Mike's, I can't help but copy Scottina06 build thread..:-)

Hey all!

I kinda did things a bit backwards and started posting pics on Instagarm before here, so for that I apologize, but hopefully these will make up for my idiocy...
Either way, as the pictures will show, she's a 2014 Redline Pearl that I picked up last March. As of now, I've loved pretty much every minute of ownership.

This is the day after bringing her home. Pardon the crappy iPhone pics.

Dog had to get into the pics, just can't leave me alone.

Even though I loved the looks of her in stock form, like many of us here, I just couldn't leave well enough alone. So my first mod was the front splitter from Black Ops. Damn this things is nice, and adds so much to the look of the front end.

After the splitter I left things the way they were for a time, but knew that I wanted to get rid of the chrome. Most others were going with the black-out look, but I still kinda wanted to add a touch of color, but as life goes, something else reared it's ugly, loud, obnoxious head...........behold!

Yep, GT Haus! Another member here was getting rid of his, and made a great deal with me, so of course I had to snatch it up. Not to mention, with all of the others that made this choice before me and posted up their thoughts and videos, it was a "no-brainer". These pics were taken right after unboxing, so pardon the not-so-shiny, but I did clean it up real good before install.

Which reminds me....

Install was super easy, with a bit of extra time spent on wiring the valves. Cool part was that I had the tow hitch (no towing package here) cover already in hand with its SRT sticker applied, so that went on at the same time.

Re: Mike's, I can't help but copy Scottina06 build thread..:-)

So after scaring the neighborhood kids, making my other neighbor with his vette jealous, and arguing with a dude in the parking lot of Sams Club that "No" there was nothing wrong with my exhaust, I got back to focusing on my painted bits.
I purchased all the grill rings and lower rings from j4j and had them directly mailed to a favorite painter on this forum. I also had the SRT badge join the rings for a nice bath in Redline Pearl. For this look, I must thank Scottina06 for his inspiration. His pictures got me off the fence.

After doing all of these mods, and seeing the guys over at Jeep so aptly listening to their customers (Vapor edition), I would love to see them offer small things such as grill rings an option to have painted in any factory color of your choice. But, that's just me.

Thanks for the compliment!

Hard not to copy some of your ideas, but, imitation is the greatest form of flattery, as they say.

Re: Mike's, I can't help but copy Scottina06 build thread..:-)

Having seen what Billet Technologies can do, and what they offer for the WK2 SRT, I had to have a few of their products. Given that it was near Christmas time, I asked "Santa" if he would bring me some of their goodies. Well, I guess he found my name on the nice list, because these parts found their way under the tree.

Picture is a bit dark, but I think you can see the composite catch can, under-hood kit with some engraving, PCV and TB covers, and the Manifold Baffle cover. All in Red of course. Also squirreled in there is an Injen intake, with the red "sock" over the hideous blue cone. Love the intake, but couldn't truly feel any gains from its addition, except for the fact that it looks 1000% better than the stock air box.

I gotta say, these pieces from BT are pretty darn nice! No blemishes, no sharp edges, come wrapped perfectly, detailed instructions on how to install (as if it wasn't easy enough) and the engraving is top notch. But.....I wish these kits had a better/more secure method of attaching them to the OEM parts. Maybe longer and or more robust set screws, maybe some Loc-tite added to the packaging....I don't know. The Oil cap cover (OEM) had to be pre-drilled in order for the set screw to "bite", and even then it still leaves me with a bit of paranoia (I check for tightness after every drive), and the coolant cap cover is way too big. So big that the set screw does no good holding it on. So I had to resort to using the OEM yellow one.
Don't get me wrong...I love the quality of the BT pieces and they certainly add a huge visual improvement over the nasty yellow parts that they replace, but I just wish there was a more secure way of attaching. I would just hate to see one of these parts come off while someone is crusing around town.

Kinda taking a step back....

Took off the engine covers and reinstalled the stock air box. Those pieces are now awaiting a custom paint job. Just hope my vision is as nice in reality as it is in my head.

Is the splitter carbon or painted black?

PIXER,

The splitter is carbon, but the previous owner had it painted PXR to match his paint color. I just left it that color since the paint job had been done so well. Fortunately it's down so low on the Jeep that it's almost impossible to tell it is a different black.

Looks great, not sure I'm a fan of the red accents on the front end but it still looks nice. Love the splitter been craving one of those for a while might have to bite the bullet now! You need to get the coolant overflow cap from BT that yellow one sticks out like a sore thumb.

Yeah, the overflow cap I finally got to work, so no more yellow in the engine bay. Well, except for the master cylinder cap.

Maybe we can petition BT to start making those...lol

Now to get my engine covers and intake back from painting.

Mike
