Re: 2012 jEEP srt8 Flashed ECU WOW!!

Sorry a bit confused.......so if I understand correctly I can call up steve from srt llc and pay a fee and I get an ECU flash tuned and ready to install? And I can keep my original ECU for any warranty/dealer trips? And if so, how much does it cost?

Re: 2012 jEEP srt8 Flashed ECU WOW!!

Received my B&G upgraded ECU today, will post back once I install. I'll be sure to compare to the wife's SRT8 as hers will remain stock.

Re: 2012 jEEP srt8 Flashed ECU WOW!!

So I called steve and now i am more confused. Quoted me $895 for a plug and play ECU sent to me. I told him i would think about it. He stated his company "prepares" the ecu and b and g flashes it. Called b and g and was told they only do wk2 srt8s, not hemis at the moment. I mean is 895 really worth it???? To me the flash tune is really a temporary fix until the codes are cracked. And they're not even doing hemis now anyways!!!!!

Re: 2012 jEEP srt8 Flashed ECU WOW!!

The only way I would think about doing this was if no support would ever come out for 11+ Mopars. I know about the whole rolling encryption issue but i can't imagine these codes not being cracked eventually. I think I will wait for the actual tuner to come out for half the price of the flashed ECU.

This is what I was really getting at in the other thread where someone posted dyno graphs off the before after tune. Less than 15whp and less than 15 wtq and no option of TC anymore for $895??? Completely too much. The only reason people like it now so much is because they crave something, and this is all they have. In reality, it's simply not worth it.

Re: 2012 jEEP srt8 Flashed ECU WOW!!

Now , I'm confused. Didn't Steve write that they are selling ECU for newer 5.7L Hemis?

I hate the way my tranny shifts. Way over geared. I had a tuner in my Chevy Tahoe and I liked being able to change my shift points, shift stiffness. I would wait if I knew the ECU wouldn't fix the chug I get at 35-40 mph with freaking A/C on!

Apples and Oranges guys, this tune and thread is about remapping the SRT8's, not the generic 5.7's. The 5.7's have a completely different drivetrain and the issues you are complaining about are transmission related, not engine management related, 2 completely different ECM's. If you are considering the B&G tune to correct transmission issues then you're wasting your time, that's not what they are doing at the present time.

BTW, cracking the code is only the first step, then you have to create an appropriate tune which is not something the local tuning shop is really capable of doing IMHO. The reason to do this on the SRT's is to improve driveability and get some incremental performance boost. You can do that for under $400, just send your ECM off to B&G. The $895 is to retain your stock ECM and have a 2nd ECM which is tuned, you can't compare the price/value relationship to a plug in tuner with a questionable base tune.

Do you mean that the Base tune when Diablosport is finally released will be questionable when compared to this ECM swap?

Perhaps a poor choice of words. I see B&G as a custom tuning shop that specializes in Chrysler products and also works directly with Chrysler on many projects. I see Diablo and others of this ilk to be a more generic provider of tuning devices and base tunes that need to be customized by people like B&G to get the most out of them.
