Nice job Ace. My ass dyno agrees with your mechanical dyno.
Thanks, I got one of those myself lol

Re: B&G tuned PCM dyno results

Installed mine over the weekend, probably haven't driven enough yet for the computer to adjust itself, but my "seat of the pants" dyno says it's a bit quicker. Made a U-turn this morning and hopped on it reasonably hard to get up to speed and got a lot of tire squeal, 1st time that's happened. I still get the eco light, though, when slowing down for a stop, but it's defiinitely not engaging mds at any point.

ECO light is just an indicator that your instantaneous MPG is higher than your average MPG. I really wish there was an indicator for MDS but on mine it's easy to tell I can hear the change in tone and feel it in the throttle response. I may do the ECM just to get rid of MDS.

Which tune did you get? 91 or 93

Re: B&G tuned PCM dyno results

93 tune. Happy so far, but I think my gas mileage is taking a hit. Going to have to watch it next time I fill up. One positive note is that the little clunking I was getting, mostly on downshifts, is now gone.

I spoke with David at B&G today and voiced my concerns over the lack of TQ management. He was insistent it will not cause a problem with the drivetrain even towing a 5000 lb trailer. He was really not concerned saying the drivetrain has not issues with the power and TQ this package puts down.

I'm not sure I agree but he didn't skip a beat. I still haven't decided what to do. Not sure I need to do a 2nd PCM, I jsut may send him mine. $350 + shipping and he'll turn it in 1 day.

That is false or at least it is on mine. When my ECO reading is on, it is in ECO mode as you can hear and feel it. I exceed my instant MPG all the time and ECO doesnt kick in.

Re: B&G tuned PCM dyno results

For me the second PCM was necessary, I don't want the dealership screwing something up, so I'll swap it out before bringing it in.

I believe the question really has never been answered precisely. You could read this statement and get 2 meanings.

The Fuel Saver Mode message will display above the average fuel economy
in the EVIC display. This message will appear whenever MDS (if equipped)
allows the engine to operate on four cylinders, or if you are driving in
a fuel-efficient manner.

I read it to mean it's always on when MDS is active but MDS is not always on when ECO is lit. Others could read it to say only vehicles without MDS would use the "fuel-efficient manner" algorithm.

There are probably 10 threads on this site alone about this, I sure wish someone would ask a Chrysler engineer for the real story.

BTW, do those with the B&G tune still get the ECO light?

Oh, gotcha....I think As far as mine goes, everytime ECO is lit you can hear the MDS and buzzy exhaust sound. AS much as I want to turn mine off, Im thinking it may hurt the fuel economy more than you think.

Just fired off an email to Steve to find out what he knows about this, might be of value for travelling longer distances to improve the gas mileage.
