That was my question above. Has anyone removed that plastic piece to allow more cool air to hit the filter? I removed mine this morning. I need to order a dry charger for the filter just in case water gets in through that gap. Ran a 0-60 run on an absolute full tank of gas and came in at 4.2 seconds. Temp was around 59 degrees here on Long Island with some wheel slippage due to snow melting. My previous best time was 4.1 seconds with just a few gallons of gas in it. I also have the Diablo 93 tune loaded. Getting a few degrees of knock on hard runs.

Re: Cold Air

I do have it removed and don't have a baseline. This isn't my Jeep but did the exact same..

You can see that the direction the filter faces doesn't allow maximum use of this feature but it has to be better than leaving it obstructed. I'm hoping when I speak with K&N after the new year we can do something to make better use of this.

Re: Cold Air

i also did the same as well and removed the small foam rectangle in the lower right part of the picture to allow just a little more air to come in to the engine bay.

Re: Cold Air

I see in that pick you have the injen hydroshield for water but I have placed paper in that area and poured water into the hood honeycomb and the water does not come close to the filter.

Should i purchase it and I wonder how much it restricts airflow?

Re: Cold Air

the hood has a catch system to funnel water away from the vents. Take a look at the vents and you will see what I speak of.
