Re: which tuner for 2014 srt?

I don't think simple bolt ons do a ton for power here to be honest. I have a drop in filter on my factory airbox, the Borla S exhaust, 180 tstat and an oil catch can.....cheap mods but also not a lot of power to be had from them. I'm waiting to see what some of the companies come out with as far as true cold air intakes, Bwoody is one option although I'm not crazy about having to fiddle with the washer fluid reservoir.

Scott, the Jeep Garage administrator told me he has the upgraded throttle body, CAI, 180 ts, exhaust and his 0-60 times went from 4.4 sec to 3.7 sec. That's pretty huge for bolt-ons. I just thought you might have done more. Thanks anyway.

That seems a bit stretched... Guys with SC are running those times

Yeah, I'm not doubting it happened, but the stars must have been aligned at that very moment.

So if that's the recipe for success I think you've found your answer as to what bolt ons to get.....

Re: which tuner for 2014 srt?

180* TS question?
If I put in the thermostat, do I have to do a tune to adjust fan temperature settings? I've been reading on the actual thermostat company website and that's what it says... Your feedback?

Thanks

I have been told that a TB upgrade along with a CAI and exhaust will do much for this 2014 SRT Jeep. Is there anything else in the power area besides overly pricey superchargers and nitros type products that are worth looking at? I'm already looking at some simple suspension mods as well. Thanks again.
Congrats on the jeep! I hope to join you in the next few weeks with a 2014. As far as mods go, I think the ripp supercharger is pretty fairly priced and offers a nice bang for the buck compared to doing all the bolt ins and full exhaust system. Not sure if I'm going that route as I don't want to void the warrantee but a supercharger system alone on these beasts do wonders compared to bolt ons. I'd like to run high mid 12's in negative da so for my future needs I feel a few light mods will suffice. But you seem to have a need for speed . Thanks for your service btw! Jim

You do not HAVE to, but the tune will change when the fans come on. Without the tune the thermostat helps while moving but once you stop, the temperature will creep up to stock running temperatures before the fans come on.

In other words, if runnign a 180 Tstat, while moving you will maintain 180 degrees. When sitting still (idling) you will slowly creep up to 205 before the fans kick in.

With the tune you can set them to come on whenever. I usually go with about 185 or so.

Also, depending on how you drive (and the outside temperature) you MAY get a low temp thermostat check engine light.

For me, it never happens as I am never light on the throttle, but for the wife, if she gets in with the Jeep cold, hops on the highway (1 mile form our house) and sets the cruise, about 10 minutes in she gets a check engine light.

P0128 - If the engine doesn't hit 182 degrees within a certain time frame (12 minutes I THINK), you set the code.

Again, stop and go traffic it wont be an issue, especially if the fans don't come on until 205, but light on the throttle leaving then straight highway, cruise set, not stopping for 20 minutes, cold morning... Yep, gets her every time.

I picked up the Diablo tuner JUST for this very reason. Allowed me to set the fans down in the 185 range and a quick email of my tune to Johan (at Diablosport) and he can modify it to NOT set the low temp thermostat code.

Hey this just happened to me. Startup from cold and cruised for a few minutes on Eco mode and I got this exact check engine light and code P0128. I turned the car on and off a few times but it didn't clear. How can I clear it?

I use the Diablo to clear all codes or an Auto Zone or similar place can. It will auto clear after enough cycles ( I believe it's 3 but no more than 5) but they have to be full cycles from a cold start not in quick succession...

Oh ok thanks. I will leave it for a few cycles and see. If not I will take it in.
