Re: 2014 hemi 8

I get 12-14, and I expected it... Anything less than 30 MPG City is not "environmentally friendly" in my opinion. Wow, just wow at this thread...

I've done this calculation for a friend on facebook whom I care about greatly but who is an actress and bleeding liberal. You can throw this in the face of anyone who tries to be judgmental.

1. There are currently 254 million registered cars in the USA as of 2012. Lets round down to 250 million.
2. Lets say all 250 million cars were theoretically Priuses (Prii?). If a Prius were to get 54 mpg as claimed (often lower than this), it would generate 121 g of CO2 per km.
3. Lets assume every one of the 250 million Priuses is driven 10000 miles per year (most estimate 12-15k but lets keep it at 10000 for simplicity).
4. How many gallons of gas would 250 million Priuses at 50 mpg driven 10000 miles per year be consumed annually? The answer: 50,000,000,000 gallons of gasoline per year.
5. A GC SRT getting 10 mpg (lets say you added a Hennessey supercharger and have a lead foot) driven 10000 miles per year consumes 1000 gallons of gas per year.
6. 1000 gallons you consume annually in your gas guzzling socially irresponsible GC SRT is 0.0000002 of the gasoline consumed in the USA annually if all 250 million US cars were Priuses. Obviously, theyre not all Priuses and we havent included the rest of the world (China, Europe, South America) nor all the jets and ships and trucks and trains also consuming fossil fuel.
7. Btw, lets look at CO2 production. 250 million Priuses X 16100 km (10000 miles) per year X 121 g of CO2 per km = 4.87 x 10^14 grams of CO2 made if all 250 million US cars were ultra low emissions Priuses.
8. A single Jeep GC SRT at 10 mpg would make 600 g/km of CO2 x 16100 km per year = 9.6x10^6 grams of CO2. Your gas guzzling JC GC SRT would be killing the environment by adding 1/50000000 to the total US CO2 production.

Im not preaching being socially irresponsible. I fly respect those who choose to drive hybrids and electric vehicles whatever their reasons may be. The worldwide problem with resource consumption and emissions and waste is because we have more humans than ever in recorded history. The next time a hippie or tree hugger gives you the evil eye, you can think about the above calculation and laugh.

I sleep just fine at night driving my 2014 Grand Cherokee SRT getting 14 mpg. I just gun my Magnaflow enhanced exhaust past all the treehugging Prius drivers...

Well, in that case, you can help with the earth's rotational speed slowing down.
Get a Hemi, and when you are heading west, drive in ECO mode.
When driving east, drive in sport mode and stand on it.
If enough folks do this, it will speed up the spin to where it used to be.

Highway you can get 20 with the hemi if you have a reasonably steady foot. Urban/suburban, can also get right near 18, again just need to remove all that lead from your right shoe. [Possibly left on other continents]

Or a Tesla. Outselling Porsches in Calif allegedly.

There IS always the diesel... available someday.
