Re: 2014 SRT Mods

I would love to hear a before/after sort of thing (I have seen many youtube vids but not enough to tell much. There is one b/a with s-type that is awesome... I wish the was an Atak video done this way). The atak systems i have heard on 12/13 models seems somewhat inconsistent for some weird reason... one will be bad ass, the next will seem off. It's weird.. where as the s-type... no matter which before/after I hear, it sounds the same. Great growl, not loud enough to piss off the neighborhood..

It's the same exhaust but atak is louder... yes?

its really obvious

catback: pros are its bolt on and more performance.
cons: will need a diablo custom tune to prevent the check engine light in the dash

axelback: pros are it gives u the same noice u expect, cons is that u will needs to cut the oem exhaust to install and it will never be the same if u want to get the stock ones back.

Re: 2014 SRT Mods

You need to cut the exhaust to install it? I've spoken to a few people and I could have sworn they all said straight bolt on - no cutting unless you go catback and change some things.

The Borla is bolt-on but you do have to cut the OEM pipes.

From the Borla installation instructions:
"Mark a cutting line on both exhaust pipes 3" behind weld seam rear of factory valves."

Re: 2014 SRT Mods

Hey fellas,

Now that many of you have received your 2014 SRT...wondering what you have settled on regarding mods. I have ordered mine (Deep Cherry) here in Afghanistan from Military Sales and looking at a mid June delivery...I am awaiting the VOTS/VIN...

My list of mods to start:
- Borla Atak
- Still debating on the CAI, so looking for opinions on install, performance, etc...
- Will tint to match the Drivers/Pax window
- Will install 3M clear bra on the front and I have been thinking about the bottom side panels on the Jeep...helping to reduce from of the effects of the road rash...I have installer in VA that did both my Vette and wife's CTS-V...did a great job...
- Looking at the 22" FR Chrome...if I do, I may be selling the Black Chrome Rims if anyone may be interested...

Anyways, let's revitalize the thread on the mods...let me know what you have done...pics are good too!

Thanks in advance
Scott

Re: 2014 SRT Mods

I like my HPE CAI. Simple to install, looks good, added a lot of throttle response for me. I haven't seen any evidence that one CAI is better than another as far as performance goes. So, pick the one you think look's best for your future plans. Bwoody's you have to move or remove the windshield washer tank.

I think you should be seeing tuning available for the '14 in the next 6 month's. Which will give you more options, like headers. Although MTGoat has headers on his '13 without not being tuned and seems to work with the Kook's headers and Cat-back system. I have the Borla ATAK and will be have the Kook's headers and Green catted mid-pipes put on here in a couple of weeks. Been real happy with the Borla.

P.S. Due to future mods I may be getting rid of mine in a couple of month's. If I wasn't doing the mods I would be perfectly happy keeping it. So if your interested maybe we can work out something when you get back. It has 1500 miles of use and a dry charger on it.

Get the XPel Ultimate clear bra instead. It's self-healing. Worth the expense.
