5000K miles and no service/ oil change....2012 GC SRT8

I have put on 5000 miles on my 2012 GC SRT8 , but still waiting for the service light to come on for first oil change. I'll be completing 6 months next week....so I guess it'll be due for oil change as per the manual.
Is this normal and how many times have you changed oil so far ? Do you think I have a faulty service indicator or something ? BTW still loving my SRT8.....blast to drive this car.

Thanks,

Just change it! IMHO I would've changed it at 1000 miles since it's new.

Changing oil at 1000 is old school.
If you do mosly highway driving, the change indicator will go off at 8000 miles or so.
Change you oil at the Chang indicator or the time period specified in your manual.

i was bored and it only took me 30 minutes from start to finish - i enjoyed doing it too

i knew it was almost a 7 quart capacity, but it almost overflowed my oil drain pan

Re: 5000K miles and no service/ oil change....2012 GC SRT8

for me the indicator came on at 3500mile the first time. but i was beating the truck on a daily basis. since then i have been driving like a model citizen and i am now at 10000 mile with no indicator light. i also thought it was broken but have been thinking maybe it just doesn't require as frequent changes. i will let it go a full 8000 miles from last oil change.

Re: 5000K miles and no service/ oil change....2012 GC SRT8

The manual states 6000 mile intervals for the 6.4L, not the 8000 mile for the smaller motors.

http://www.jeep.com/download/pdf/man...ad-button.y=11

I'm at 3000 and will do a change then follow the factory 6000 intervals.

I stick to 3000 miles. I want to keep the engine fresh and clean!
