Re: 7 RIPP Kits running soundly

Note to self. Launching on a slightly wet road with RIPP supercharger equals going sideways in the middle of the road. Had an ohhh crud moment this morning. Trying to do a 0-60 launch, road was slightly wet from rain. Spun all four tires and the rear completely overpowered the front. Ended up completely sideways in the road. Tried to drive/steer out of it but finally just let off. Never had that happen in stock form. I can just imagine what would happen with the hellcat engine! Lesson learned... I'm having a freakin blast with this thing.

Question for the RIPP guys. I had enough of the BOV valve loudly whistling and called Vortech. I ordered the quieter previous version that discharges to the side versus from all sides. The BOV they sent me has the softer spring in it. I took out the higher tension spring from my other valve and put it in the new quieter one. I have screw set all the way out and it drives and sounds great. Much more of an air whoosh sound versus loud whistle. Did you all use the higher tension springs on the old blow off valves or softer one? Does using the higher tension cause any problems with tune?

Re: 7 RIPP Kits running soundly

A little update on my Ripp kit- I have it now for a decent amount of time and have had zero issues with it. The only thing I have gotten out of it is one hell of a time driving it around. It pulls so damn hard with the AWD. My friends all have decently fast cars and no one can believe the power it has out of the hole. I have taken stage 2 sti, Z06s, twin turbo f 150, M3, pro charged chargers and challengers. This jeep is a blast to drive on the drag strip. The updated tunes have been great and get better each time. Now that it is getting colder out here in Texas I can feel more power coming on. I have successfully hit a 0-60 in 3.5 and did the 1/8th in 7.6 a few weeks ago. I plan to get some nice times in the quarter this winter. But so far no complaints other than I wish I didn't have work all day so I could drive it more. I have let Seth, another SRT owner and its convinced him to buy one now. Also- even with 4 grown ass men it still pulls like a rocket ship. It also sounds cool with the windows down now that it's cool out. The teams is fully adapted to the kit and shifts perfect at this point.

Re: 7 RIPP Kits running soundly

After driving 14StormTrooper's Jeep with the RIPP Supercharger, I was sold and had to get one. So excited that it's on the way! Can't wait for the install and results. Will have some great before and after shots to highlight the performance gains.
