Re: Australian RIPP Install (RHD)

Got the Plumb Back BOV and just put it on (took me about 1:30 as I'm a newb).

Results - Perfect! Not a sound was made coming off WOT.... as in not a pop, scream.... simply nothing!

For RIPP - I've some Q's as I presume I was the test case for this and while I had the parts I had to figure out how to install it based on the two pics in this thread (no doco in box).

So these are the parts I got and how it looks installed:
1 x Much Bigger Air Filter with a hose connector attached
1 x BOV for Plumb Back and two bolts)
1 x Moulded Hose with Aluminium connector to run from the BOV and the flexible hose
1 x Flexible Hose to run from the Aluminium connector to the Air Filter
2 x House Clamps (large)
2 x Cable Ties

Re: Australian RIPP Install (RHD)

From the bits I got:
- Hose Clamps: I could only use one of the hose claps to attach the Moulded Hose with Aluminium connector to the BOV. No idea what to do with the second hose clamp as it is too big for anything.
- I reused the bolts from the existing BOV for the new one
- I used the two cable ties to connect the flexible hose to the Aluminium Connector & the Plastic Connector on the Air Filter. The shroud on the flexible house was an inch or so longer than it's internal material so it is only that section that I placed over the connectors and secured with the cable ties. Is that correct, and should I be using Hose Clamps instead?
- The routing of the flexible pipe is near the fan belt so I used two more cable ties to hold it out of the way,
- one around the AC pipe near the SC
- one around the intake sensor housing (hard to see in the pic)

The attached pics with the arrows show where the Cable Ties are (hard to see I know and I've now trimmed them down)....

Thanks
Nathan

Awesome!

Hopefully the install instructions become a bit more refined from your feedback Nathan.

Were you planning to put your SRT on the dyno once everything is done?

Re: Australian RIPP Install (RHD)

I may put it on a Dyno but I'm pretty ambivalent about it (more likely to go to the track!).... I'm much more interested in it's:
- Performance (that other RIPP install doing 3.4 0-100 is something to aim at)
- Reliability & "Q Car"
- Complied & Legal .. I've just contacted the Engineers about getting the certification and testing done...

No drama. All those points will be pretty high up on my list too. What needs to be done to get 3.4secs? Will you need a new exhaust & more boost? Any idea what you 1/4 mile times are currently?

Re: Australian RIPP Install (RHD)

No additional HW, RIPP say I should be targeting 3.5 with the current setup (and another member posted he got a 3.4). All a need is some practice with the Launch and keeping it light on a cool day. No idea on 1/4 mile yet, will need a track as I'm not doing that on an open road. Got a performance driving day booked for the 17th of Nov so I'll see how it goes.

We're glad you received it and its meeting your needs, we're going to draft some instructions up if this is acceptable. So future installs will go smooth.

The clamps are for both sides of the black rubber hose, when we tested it on our dyno it would pop off at that junction.

Re: Australian RIPP Install (RHD)

Thanks. I did a bunch of short / hard accell and everything seems to stay in place ... but I'm not sure if the way I have secured it with the cable ties is what you want me to do! Does it look OK to you?

Looks fine, there is really no other way to do it, we explored a few different options, this is the most straight forward and easy to install. You are one of 3 right now with that new air filter, thats a prototype from K/N

Re: Australian RIPP Install (RHD)

You are right, the aluminium piece hard started to work lose (so I've put the other hose clamp on). I may also put hose clamps on the flexi hose ends as well (replacing two cable ties).

Re: Australian RIPP Install (RHD)

Did my first run 0-100 with the updated BOV, another warm day 31C (88F) and another 3.8sec 0-100 just using Std LC. I' getting more used to the "feel" of the runs and I did notice that on one gear change it seemed to hang a little to long before changing up (logs sent to RIPP).

I also checked all my fittings for the new BOV Plub Back and nothing has come lose though with the larger Air Filter the piece of hose is now not quite long enough (so I'll get a bit of longer hose from the back of the filter to the adapter).

Thanks
Nathan
