Apart from that it is stock!
I've been thinking of importing some tires from the states for this exact reason. May even upgrade to 305's, but will also depend on what I end up doing with the rims.

How do you rank the Hankook's for ride comfort? You keeping your Pirellis?

Re: Australian RIPP Install (RHD)

I'm no tyre expert but the Run Flats make your kidneys bleed on any road surface that is not perfect (eg most of our roads) and they are very expensive at around A$900 per corner. Lucky for me I "traded" them in as part of a new tyre/rim package.

Also regarding the fuel economy, the Jeep is a very thirsty beast in the city. I get on average around 17l/100km in Sydney stop start traffic but as you have seen it is not too bad on the Hwy.

PS - I've had my Certificate issued so later this week, I'll be in the RTA to do their paperwork.

Re: Australian RIPP Install (RHD)

Thanks for that Nathan, think I'll get in and replace mine straight up as well in that case. I travel a fair amount of country B and even C roads, which I obviously did not get to try out during my test drive.

Thinking I might go for the Kuhmo Ecsta 305/45R20, maybe even a set of Federal Couragia 305/45R20 if I can find out a bit more about them. Can I ask where you did your "trade in" on your Pirelli's? I'll also be looking to swap out my Goliath's with after market wheel's, but not having too much luck finding anywhere in Aus with an online catalogue who sell Jeep stud patterns in 10inch x 20inch size.

Great news on the certificate. Once you are all done and dusted I might write up a bit of a guide for what exactly is required to get the RIPP installed and certified and get you to have a look over it for missing/incorrect bits if that is ok?

Re: Australian RIPP Install (RHD)

Sounds good on the FAQ on the certificate (mine is obviously NSW). My local dealer pointed me to a Tyre shop that did the swap for me (and a credit for the Run Flats). I'll dig out the details on the weekend as I'm away with work this week.
Thanks
Nathan

Re: Australian RIPP Install (RHD)

Hey Nathan,

Just wondering what your new tyre specs are and if you have had any traction issues since installing the SC?

I've been told by a tyre shop that my selection of wide (greater than 8.5 inch) after market 20 inch wheels for the SRT is pretty limited due to the huge breaks. Not sold on going to the 22 inch wheels, so alternative would be to get 275mm rubber on 8.5 inch rims. Not sure if this would reduce my grip levels too much however once the RIPP is installed.

Re: Australian RIPP Install (RHD)

It's pretty hard to get wheel spin and I've only done it once from the side of a road (could have been some loose gravel). Apart from that it just griiiippps! On the Rims, the Tyre shop I was put onto is used by the dealer for all their after market needs and they had in stock the Rims I wanted (stock size but in matt black). Your dealer may be able to recommend a similar shop in Melb?

Re: Australian RIPP Install (RHD)

I'm looking for some new tyres as well. I might poke around through the threads and see if anyone's already done some research on street performance tyres.

I'm glad to hear you got decent trade-in value on the new run flats. If I could get an even swap for the new tyres that would be amazing!

Cheers,
Bill

Re: Australian RIPP Install (RHD)

Just did a day of hard driving at a Performance Driving Course and it was superb + the entire field (including the instructors) loved the car and all got a ride in the back pulling a bunch of straight line runs.

The only thing I have to have a look at is at the end of half a dozen runs my air filter came of the blower (I got a check engine light - rich fuel). While it was stinking hot, it was easy to push back (and I'll clear the code). I also found during my install of the newer air filter that as I tightened the clamp it tended to push the filter off the blower instead of clamping it down (if that makes sense). I'll have to have a look on the Weekend (as I'm away with work now), but any suggestions?

Thanks
Nathan

Re: Australian RIPP Install (RHD)

Mmm got the P0172 (System Too Rich) code back and it has been running rough at idle (around 700rpm) since the Course. I've sent some logs to RIPP to see what they may contain, but it all seems fine while driving, any ideas?

Thanks
Nathan
