Milous, spill the beans....Show us the S/C they are going with that will be covered by warranty that will bring HP up to 550. Please?
I'll take a Kenne Bell or a Eaton.

Re: It's Official: 6.4L Pushes 470hp/tq!!

What some of you guys are forgetting is that the new GC is 500lbs. heavier. That's an extra .5 slower in the 1/4 mile. It's gonna need the extra power to make up for the weight difference. My race weight of my Jeep is around 5100lbs. Add 500 to that. The new GC is just as heavy as their competitors.

Having a MOPAR supercharger is a pipe bream sadly. Unless they figured out how to put a decent set of pistons in their engines, it'll never happen. It would be nice if they didn't cheap out on the IMPORTANT PARTS!!

470 just won't be enough. For that matter, neither will 500

Is there a number when enough is enough? LOL. I was hoping for something closer to 500 from the factory but 470 is alot closer than 420!
With a little work I think it will be just fine

X5M is claiming 555 horses and 500 lb-ft at 1500 rpm with a weight of 5370, and AWD. I expect the Jeep to be heavier than that or perhaps equal at best. On paper it looks like this Jeep won't be putting any car lengths on an X5M. But I guess at just over half the price, it's close enough.

Man think of it like this if u save over half on just buying a SRT-8 put that much more into your SRT-8 thats one bad machine lol...

Ahh....but you don't have the "whole" story my friend most likely. Gearing on this thing (like the 06-10) can easily make up for the loss in HP and torque.

Take for instance the 503 HP ML 63 AMG. I've seen several vids where the Jeep walks it from 0-10, 0-20, 0-30 all the way up 60 putting a car and a half on it before the ML begins to reel it in.

Gearing (among other things).........makes a big difference from a light, where the SRT puts a car length or two on many vehicles. Weight and HP/torque doesn't always tell the whole story.

Also, there is no way it weighs that much. The Overland (the most bloated of the GC models) is 100lbs lighter than the X5M. I'd expect the GC SRT to be a good 200-300 less than the X5M.

It should weight less on top of all the things you mentioned it is always going to be cheaper to modify an SRT8 than an X5M also the amount of BHP compared to each other the SRT8 can be way way faster than the X5M with simple things such as an intake, good tune, exhaust, that can cover the spread of 50 bhp easily. Still be 1/2 the price of the X5M

Re: It's Official: 6.4L Pushes 470hp/tq!!

Those of you guys bitching about 470 ponies and torque are nuts! How much power could you possibly want on the street? SURE there's other cars out there making more power but you need to remember making/selling care is a business. In order to be successful and do good business you have to cater to your market and guys, these rigs are still targeted towards middle aged males in the upper/middle class and not quite the same market as the X6M and ML63AMG are made for. That said this thing will haul off the line better than the WK SRT8 and run harder up top so I think they did good by just improvig their margins as much as they did. Plus, on average id say 90% of driving is from stop and lower speeds anyway so who needs 500+hp from the factory? That's going to cost a ton more to make that motor and then they can't reach their market if you ask me. So ill wait till I see the real thing but im going to guess this new beast will pit most of the talkers here to silence

Re: It's Official: 6.4L Pushes 470hp/tq!!

just think of it this way, my 95 with a 318 Magnum only puts 230 HP and 300#s torque AT THE CRANK, bahaha. i WISH i had 400 HP/TQ, but im spending thousands to do it. bore, heads, cam, crank, pistons, among other things. o and my 0-60 = 9 flat with 3.73s and 32X11.50-15 tires

those things only have 74 more cubes than i do, and they're pullin those numbers?
