Re: Jet 180 Thermostat for 2014 GC SRT Part #

I just tried to look at one of these on eBay and tried to confirm with the seller if the 10183 was correct for my MY14 J SRT and they came back saying they don't think it'll fit.
My qn: if they send me the 10183, is there anyway possible it can be wrong? Or is that part number it and won't matter?

Re: Jet 180 Thermostat for 2014 GC SRT Part #

I installed the Jet 180 stat in my 15' a few months ago and noticed my coolant temps seem to fluxuate pretty often. Sometimes it will hold at 185* will sitting still for a while and other times it will jump as high as 215*-219* and then go back down. I never bothered to monitor the temps before I changed the thermostat. Just trying to figure out if thermostat is not opening as it should at times or is it the thermo switch not turning fan on. Thanks for any help!

Re: Jet 180 Thermostat for 2014 GC SRT Part #

So reading this thread, one thing I did notice is nobody mentions having to adjust the fan settings after 180 T-Stat. I have had a 180 T Stat on my last 3 Mopars and had to adjust the fan setting with my tuner on all 3. Is that something you dont have to do with the WK2's, and if so why not?

Correct the fan will still not change unless you tune it. However is there a temp sensor that could be change out on the fan unit? it would be nice to do this without the tuner.

I have the 180 with no other mods. While driving the temp is usually around 186ish and higher when stopped.

How long does it take? Is there any thing different for the 2015 JGC srt8? Did you see any different in fuel economy?

Re: Jet 180 Thermostat for 2014 GC SRT Part #

Bumping this thread for a few reasons:

1) I searched the forum and it led me here.
2) Why start another thread when I can ask the question in this one.

I have a 2015 Jeep SRT. Since the weather is still cold, but I'm thinking ahead to the Summer months and the ridiculous heat we get here on the East Coast, is a 180 Tstat a necessity, will it void a warranty, and why didn't the vehicle come with a better oem Tstat if these vehicles run so hot?

Thanks

Re: Jet 180 Thermostat for 2014 GC SRT Part #

-probably won't void warranty because they won't pay attention to the t-stat type in the case of replacement. ( mine was replaced due to a water pump replacement)

-running cooler IMHO is always better for these engines longevity and possibly performance wise

-vehicles don't come with the 180 tstat most likely to emissions standards.

Thanks for the quick reply. I was just on Marylandspeed's website ordering the Borla ATAK dipped in black ceramic, and saw the Jet 180 Tstat for $30 and wanted to ask first. Is there a better Tstat than the Jet, or is this one recommended? Placed in my checkout basket.
