Question Kooks full setup (Headers, Green Cats, Cat-Back)

Hi ,

I want to mod my 2014 SRT a little bit...currently I'm considering several options, but my favorite one is a full Kooks setup with Green Cats and catback together with a throttle body and a custom tune. I live in Germany and we have pretty strict emission standards and the emissions of the Jeep mustn't be worse than the stock emissions. And therefore I thought the Green Cats should work, because they don't throw a CEL. I know it's possible to cheat the ECU by disabling the sensor behind the cat, but that would be tax evasion in Germany

Can you confirm that with this combination (Kooks headers, Green Cats, Kooks Catback) there is no CEL lighting up?

And what about the sound and loudness? The videos I saw are difficult to assess. I don't like it too loud...only want a nice V8 rumble. What about cabin drone, especially with MDS kicking in? It's my daily driver and it should stay suitable for long-distance driving.

Regarding the loudness, not the sound, is this setup comparable to let's say a Mercedes C63 AMG or is it louder?

Thank you for your help!
Mr.SRTee

Re: Kooks full setup (Headers, Green Cats, Cat-Back)

with this setup weather or not you will buy the green cats you need a tune from a tuner to get the full power increase out of the headers. A tune adapts the ECU for the increased exhaust flow and maximizes your gains. Also without a tune a CEL will come up because the increased and different flow will throw off the sensors. A tune will also shut off the rear 02 sensors. Best tune i know of for what you want to do is at hemifevertuning.com sells the tuner and included is his custom tuning which is pretty much a fully custom optimized tune based on your upgrades that gets the full potential out of them and the best bang for your buck. As for volume this setup will for sure be louder than a stock AMG. It'll sound awesome night and day over stock. Also i have no experience with this system personally but after doing research a cutback with mufflers of this size shouldn't have much drone and shouldn't be too loud for your taste. it'll deff be loud though because of the long tube headers and less restrictive system

Yes, I know and I will get a custom tune on the dyno.

But Kooks says, there will be no CEL when using the green cats, or not?! And I thought with the green cats it's not neccessary to deactivate the rear O2-Sensors? Sure, with normal high-flow cats you have to disable the rear O2-sensor, but with green cats that shouldn't be neccessary, if I'm not mistaken.

Thank you I need to convince my wife, but she likes the stock exhaust She's more the luxury-SUV type instead of the muscle-car woman
