Muffler/ Resonator delete

Hey guys, i was wondering has anyone deleted the rear mufflers (had pipe welded in place) and also deleted the forward resonator(replaced with a bullet resonator). I did this on my 5.7 that i had before my art and it was the perfect volume. I like really loud and drone doesn't bother me so i was wondering if anyone has tried it and if anyone has any opinions on what i want to do or advice. Thanks

Re: Muffler/ Resonator delete

I just had it done today. Took less than an hour and cost 150.00 keeping the stock tips. I did NOT have the forward 'suitcase' muffler deleted, just the rear resos were done, as its been reported that people are having back pressure issues, drone, and exhaust valve clatter when deleting both. I'm very pleased with the results. Definitely a better sound inside and out but it isn't obnoxious at all. I can't imagine what you wouldn't like about it. Keep your parts afterwards just in case, it's easily reversible. Go for it!

I actually did this when I had my '12. Had the Magnaflow catback system on and wasn't pleased with the sound. I had a shop remove the two rear mufflers, weld in some 3in pipe and just left the two bullet mufflers on that came with the catback. The two bullet mufflers take the place of the big suitcase underneath. Loved the sound after doing this and it did get louder over time. Also, I did feel I lost some low end power after doing this. Hope this helps.

Re: Muffler/ Resonator delete

Cutting the suitcase out is bad unless a full, properly tuned exhaust system is put in its place. Here's a quote:

"We proved on the dyno last year that removing the suitcase muffler resulted in a loss of low end torque..., we replaced the suitcase with the Magnaflow built in X crossover and deleted the rear resonators and exhaust piping from the rear axle back. It sounded great but the end result was a loss of nearly 20 at the wheels from stock setup. You need a tuned exhaust or mufflers to keep a little back pressure in the system.

If you keep the stock suitcase in place you'll be fine with the resonator delete...I would not change both."
