My RIPP supercharger experience.

Monday of last week I took the Jeep to RIPP to have the supercharger installed. I picked it up this past Monday. Summary comment: Awesome!

Detail comments:

4.3 0–60 yesterday, in the heat. The best I have ever been able to get in the heat was 5.0.

Earlier this year, on a cool day and a slight downhill slope, the best was 4.5.

The odometer reads approximately 1,000 miles. I am told that when I pass the 2,500 mile mark the jeep will “wake up”. I will post when that happens.

The transmission shiftpoints have been changed. At first I didn’t like the upshifts (first time when I punched it at 70 mph it did not upshift [felt like it hit the rev limiter]; the next time it shifted smoothly). The first time I tried the 0-60 it went 4.6 (shift from 1st to 2nd was slow); subsequently, that shift was crisper (which is one reason it went 4.3).

It wasn’t until after the above experience that I read the Instruction Manual (I didn’t think that was a high priority, since I didn’t do the install). Lo and behold, page 2 discusses “…transmissions may not up shift at full throttle………….end users may….lift to shift……..So even that was covered LOL.

Ross explained that the tune reset all of the PCU’s learning regarding my driving habits.

I will keep an eye on the shifting, and I will post an update after 2,500 miles.

I was very impressed with the quality and attention to detail that I saw and experienced. I am particularly impressed by Ross’s attention to detail, the time he is willing to spend explaining and answering questions, and his philosophy of providing added power in a conservative manner – always minimizing risk of harm to the motor.

For those who plan to do their own install, the manual is very well done, with detailed instructions which are accompanied by 144 color photos.

I am really happy with the Jeep!

Got mine yesterday. They said 8 kits were being shipped out this week. They respond a lot better when you call them directly. Someone always picks up and can give you an accurate update of what's going on with your kit. I ordered mine back later in June but they had to readjust some of their manufacturing clips. Should be good to go now.

My order was also placed in June, and I also had a few changes to ship dates. However, I was quite happy to wait, because the delays were related to fixes / improvements. I'm very glad I made the decision to have Ross do the installation, although the traffic / construction made the 400 mile trip (well, 100 miles up and back twice) not pleasant.

New best 0-60 is 3.7 seconds!

Miles: 1,450
Outside temperature: 69

First try:

4.0 0-60, 13.1 quarter mile

Second try:

3.7 0-60, slowed down due to traffic, quarter mile 13.9 (I suspect it would have been in the high 12’s).

This is a 0-60 improvement of 8 car lengths from my pre-RIPP supercharger best of 4.5.

MPG info: I tried to maintain 40 MPH on a flat road, for about a mile. The MPG indicator floated between 27 and 32. To me this is serendipity. I would gladly have accepted REDUCED miles per gallon for this power increase.

I pride myself on having selected RIPP!

Side note – Excellent Diablosport customer service. I had some issues trying to register the Intune, as well as a few questions. Mike replied very quickly, took care of the registration / activation, and answered my questions.

Warning: this post was written during a period of intense happiness, exuberance and overwhelming bliss. LOL.

Hi everyone, this is officially my first post! I've been doing alot of research about these RIPP kits and they sound amazing in theory, but I'm reluctant to pull the trigger because there doesnt seem to be much long term info about the effects of these kits in general, but especially on the 5.7L...It seems people are putting these kits on their 3.6L and SRT 6.4's 99.9% of the time. Why is that and how has your experience been thus far? Thank you and keep up the great discussions!

Yes, they have some youtube videos of the WK2's on dynos... what worries me is you're hard pressed to find any user videos of RIPP supercharged 3.6 & 5.7L's - by far most of the videos are of SRT's. I would be interested in these kits if there was better data to support them, especially for $6k. I just feel like if they were as popular as they seem to to portray them as, there would be dozens of videos posted by ecstatic customers itching to brag about their new upgrade! I certainly would!

Good luck.
Let me tell you about my experience so far

Ripp shipped wrong pcm. Apparently its for a vin scheduled to be out in 2028...

The diablo tune was never written properly. 3 days of my shop working with thier guys to download new ones still lead to check engine light. Map sensor wrong and runnjng super rich. Enough so that it will cause the rods to bend from so much fuel entering due to the larger injectors.

Ripp kit had piping that was set up for wrangler not wk2.

Belt too short to use. Had to buy a new one.

Intercooler didnt fit had to modify it. Again for a wrangler.

Add salt to the wound the install manual was for a 2012 thru 14. Not for the 15. Which is qhat i have.
I gave them all exact and correct jnfo for vin and pcm.

I now had it towed tonight to RT Tuning for them to write a new intune just to get it runnjng properly.

Ripp and Diablo really dropped the ball majorly. Sadly the install was already being done and my shop made all parts fit. They also replaced gaskets and made sure no leaks existed.
They did a stand up job but they arent tuners so now on to rtt to hopefully fix this joke i was sold by ripp and diablo.

Just rolled over 12,000 miles of my ownership of my ‘14 with the RIPP SC kit and no issues whatsoever. I don’t beat on my cars but it’s been great so far. Not sure exactly what the odometer reading was when the kit was installed as it was done by the previous owner.
