Re: New Corsa Jeep SRT intake

On the SRT's outside air comes up from the front and from the areas below the engine and escapes out through the vented hood, while there is no direct forced air path into the air intake, you are getting a flow of outside air through the engine compartment, if you didn't, the engines would soon over heat and self destruct, many seem to want a RAM Air system, where they can obtain an unrestricted flow of air, from out in front of their vehicles directed into their throttle body directly.....The new Challenger Hell Cat does this by removing one or two of the headlamps and using that opening as a scoop, this has been done in various forms over the years, especially in the late 60's high performance cars.... Ram Air scoops were often attached under the front bumper with large clothes dryer type hoses running directly up the the carburetors filter housing, or real hood scoopes, it can still be done to the GC if someone wants it bad enough, and thinks the gains would be worth the fabrication efforts...I personally don't feel the possible small performance gains would be worth all the effort, unless your really into all out racing

If you are driving around with 115 degree intake temps..you are robbing your truck of power. ...plain and simple. I had a hennessey intake and constantly saw 100-115 intake temps on 80 degree days. I made the switch to a true cai and saw the temps drop to just above ambient...no matter the temp outside. I also saw my truck drop .5 seconds in 0-60 from 4.3 to a.3.7 and i have many vids to back that up. Most here have seen them.

True. The same place the bwoody drops down to is the same path the air comes into the engine compartment.

We can't knock the efficiency of the bwoody guys. Just looking for a good alternative.

Re: New Corsa Jeep SRT intake

to be honest....and not to sound like an ass. But none of the short rams are an alternative at the moment. If there not pulling air from out side of the engine bay.....youre gonna have high intake temps. Im afraid even the corsa may fail for the same reasons. Yes it has a sealed box....but it still pulls its air from the same place as stock.

Re: New Corsa Jeep SRT intake

That's why I'm trying to convince Corsa to mold a ram air scoop to pull from the lower grill. They have molded them for a ton of other vehicles. I don't see any indication that Chad will have anything anytime soon so I'm trying out the Corsa.

The Hellcat system is what I desire - a stand alone version that is exclusive for my SRT , there has to be a way to get an intake into the front grille surely

Re: New Corsa Jeep SRT intake

Well, my Corsa intake is out for delivery...I'll try to get it installed tonight and report back on IAT temps, etc. I've done a few 0-60 and all have been right at 4.7s stock (with spare tire, some tools and other crap in the back). One thing that does kind of worry me about the bwoody or any intake with a low filter is pulling water from standing water. The roads I take to and from work constantly flood along the sides and I'm always driving through large puddles. Probably not a valid concern if I take it really slow and could be mitigated with a drycharger sock, but the thought is always in my mind.

I've had Volant intakes before and really like their Donaldson filters. I'm interested to see how high the IAT temps get with Corsa's enclosure and also opening above the front headlight.

Got the Corsa installed and the hood won't close because the hood vent is hitting the filter enclosure. Talk about piss poor engineering. Did they test this intake on a hoodless SRT???
