Question about exhaust vents

I don't know a whole lot about the exhaust on the wk2 srt. I know it has spring loaded dumps in the system..is that right? Is it on both sides? How is it usually activated? I know some mornings if I stomp on it I can hear the difference but it sounds like it's only from the passenger side. Just wondering if that's how it is or should it sound like its opening on both sides? Maybe something is wrong with mine? Some explanation on what activates it and how it works would also be appreciated. Thanks in advance

They are spring loaded valves on both sides, the driver's side on my '14 jammed within a couple of months of purchasing it so I had both of them welded open after installing the borla atak axle back, having them welded open had no effect on mpg or back pressure I guess they are there for noise reduction when mds kicks in , they must not be needed much bc the '15s don't have those valves.

Re: Question about exhaust vents

You can see where they added them in on either side of the rear diff:

'15s use the sound system to send out "silent" waves to combat the exhaust drone. They call it Active Noise Cancellation:

I did, took less than five seconds per side. Just rotate open and place end of spring into groove on square knob....

Re: Question about exhaust vents

Mine seem to rotate both ways, which way opens them (clockwise or counter clockwise)? Don't want to tie them shut.
