Removing 2 rear mufflers right before tips? Anyone done it?

Just wondering if anyone has removed the 2 rear black mufflers right before the tips and replaced it with anything else like a pipe or a small resonator or what not. Is there any power difference? How does it sound? Videos/sound clips?

Thanks!

I replaced mine with Flowmaster 10's sounded great until hitting 70mph and MDS kicked on. That can drive you kinda bonkers after a while. Trust me when I say just go with the Borla axle-backs. Someone did a dyno after Borla installed and saw a 15hp increase I believe. You'll feel the difference in acceleration and it does sound real good and look better.

Hmm not sure what to do right now I'll hold out until sometime into 2013 just trying to get some things together. Big price difference in borla and just cutting the rear's out just not wanting to lose any low end lol. We'll see thank you!

Re: Removing 2 rear mufflers right before tips? Anyone done it?

Also another question what does everything think that if I am worried about losing any low end replacing the stock rear mufflers right pipes but going with a 2.5" diameter pipe rather than the 3" (2.75 seems hard to come by at shops). The 2.5 will allow the sound I'm looking for and possibly maintain some of the back pressure that was given from removing the straight through muffler?

Re: Removing 2 rear mufflers right before tips? Anyone done it?

I have cut out the rear mufflers on my 2013 and simply put stainless pipe in its place. It sounds great. The best $250 you can spend. I also had the crimped pipe cut out and replaced by the front resonator. Since there is no tuning for the 2013, this was a great mod for the time being. There is no loss on the bottom end (imo) and it sounds very throaty/wraspy upon acceleration. Also, I like the look of the blacked out tips so changing to the Borla and having chrome tips was not an option for me. Hope this helps with your decision.

Sorry for the thread mine, but I found these vids ages ago. Worth a look/listen.

Dunno why the first link doesn't show up here, or why the second link shows up twice?
