Will the 2015 SRT Jeep get the 6.2 Hellcat powerplant?

It would finally justify the high price tag. Maybe it will be a limited run and even pricier?

General consensus seems to be we won't get that motor until the next gen.

It will more than likely be a de-tuned version when it does arrive. It WILL arrive!

Re: Will the 2015 SRT Jeep get the 6.2 Hellcat powerplant?

its a great engine with trap times being in the top 10 of the fastest production cars in the world. However, will that equally transfer to the GC in pure awww? I think a beefed up s/c'ed version of the existing 6.4l would be an equivalent monster to the GC platform given its weight and size. Especially if its a de-tuned version of the beast. However, only time will tell. Also to consider, given the 70/30 distribution of power to all 4 wheels in the GC may help with the "poor" 0-60 times that the Challenger put down when compared to its trap speeds!

What ya'll think?

Re: Will the 2015 SRT Jeep get the 6.2 Hellcat powerplant?

I think 700 hp is just that, no matter how you slice it. Why the need for .2 liters of displacement for weight? The 411 lb/ft of torque at 1200rpms should do the trick huh? The engine will be much better suited in the JGC SRT, plain and simple. More weight AND AWD should be more consistent if anything.

Then again the reason it would be so much better is because of the "engineers" and their choice of 275 rubber. C'mon the Viper of yesteryear had 400HP and 335s... Explain that...

Add 237 hp to the current platform and you have the fastest production suv ever....no doubt about it. Add it to the next generation SRT Jeep....you get the same imho

Re: Will the 2015 SRT Jeep get the 6.2 Hellcat powerplant?

Totally agree. I mentioned that the 700hp would be more usable on a AWD car/SUV on a forum and I got hit with some bullshit like " it's a muscle car, it don't need to make sense, it's gotta be RWD". What good are 700 horses if it takes you 5 secs to get traction or can't handle coming out of corners. I had a '14 HSV GTS showing off in front of me the other day come out of a corner and nearly wack a curb and telephone pole because he didn't know handle the power, imagine what he or any other moron would do with the Hellcat. I kept right up with him BTW. Too bad about that crosswalk/speed bump LOL

Call it blasphemy but putting the Hellcat in the Challenger was pretty silly and comes across as d!ck measuring against the Z28 and Mustang than anything else. A whole lot of other manufacturers are chuckling at this rather than being fearful. Put it in the JGC and it might be a different story.
