2012 SRT-8 front brake shims

Ok so I went to change my front pads due to dusting. I know that this was super dumb, but due to distractions coupled with feeling rushed, I installed one pad backwards... So PSA, they will go in backwards.

I am bound to catch hell for this, but I need some help. I caught it quick and turned the pad around, but not before it caused some damage to the rotor, and obviously the pad. After turning it around it stops fine and doesn't make any noise, but I no longer have one of the oem shims for the back of the brake pads.

I have ordered new rotors and pads, but I changed the pad to a full ceramic, as I don't track the vehicle. It states that the pads don't have shims, but there are different schools of thought on whether to use the oem ones or not. I want to, but don't have the part number nor can I find a manual online. Additionally, I can't seem to contact SRT since I am outside the US.

If you have the part number for the oem shims I would greatly appreciate it.

Re: 2012 SRT-8 front brake shims

Just to update, Summit was supposed to ship the rotors 24 January (pads were in stock Hawk hb649z.605). Now they are back ordered until 6 February. There are still no noises and braking is still normal... Just waiting still. It does speak to how well the pads were made though...

Re: 2012 SRT-8 front brake shims

Finally received the brake rotors and pads. Hawk pads come with a shim permanately affixed to the back of the pad. I was only able to install 3 of the oem shims on top of the shims on the back of the Hawk pad, and then used grease directly on the Hawk shim. Not a peep from them and they stop very well for a Ceramic compund. To me, they feel like factory (No tests to back it up).

Some notes though:

1) The factory rotor was a pain to get off. There was two rubber o-rings to hold it on (for build-up I assume). It took some solid knocks with a rubber mallet to have the rotor over come these two o-rings.

2) It is way, way easier to remove the pads if you remove the caliper. The whole "quick change" thing doesn't work very well at all.

3) I could only find two torques for the caliper, neither were for the 2012 Jeep SRT8. The 09+ CTS-V states 129ft-lbs. The 2010 Jeep SRT8 states 140ft-lbs. I split the difference and went the the higher-medium with 135ft-lbs. Anyone who would care to let me know the torque I would gladly fix this if it is wrong.
