~ Alignment Question ~ '14 SRT

Hello fellow SRT Owners -- I have a "General" question for everyone and trying to get input on an Alignment / Steering Wheel Question.

Question = Considering you're going on a road that is "paved" and is straight without a lot of imperfections, etc. etc. -- After you have your steering wheel centered; about how long will it continue to go straight before it starts drifting to the right?

My reason for this is on my Jeep, it seems I'm constantly correcting it from going right , ( not a whole lot ) - but enough where it's noticeable. Slow "tugs" on the wheel to the left about every 1/4 to 1/2 mile, maybe less. 2-3 degrees, so not just a whole lot.

So when I let off the steering wheel on a nice highway, after about 2-3 seconds it starts pulling to the right. I would say in between slowly and moderate pulling to the right. Since I have only 1600 miles, its very difficult to remember if it cruised straight " HANDS OFF" , and how long it did this before it would start drifting to the right.

I have had one Alignment at the dealership ( took it in after I ran over a circular "hard rubber" construction barrier base that "looks like a man-hole cover"! Just glad it was rubber and not steel. Ran over it only on the right side front/rear tires. They couldn't find anything bent, "yet" - so I was curious if our SRT's pull fairly quickly to the right or If I have a totally different issue with something possibly "slightly" bent from running over this hard rubber construction piece in the road. If so, what usually would go out of whack first from running "OVER" a 3" piece of hard a$$ plastic construction barrier base.
I know our vehicles suspension is tough and I hit it doing about 60 mph - The tires on the right look good, the wheels, the air in tires has stayed constant since as well for over a week + - Again, only have 1600 miles....

Just any input from you guys would be great and also what you think I should do next? Take it to another shop to double check the dealership's Alignment numbers? OR back to the dealer and continue the journey.. Maybe this is just NORMAL to pull right "moderately" after letting off the wheel from center for 2 seconds? - Seems to me it should drive "straight" going forward for a lot longer than a few seconds tho'...

No road is perfect. ...Most are paved for water to run off and the crown is usually to one side or the other. ....or centered.

Hi Scott, Fully aware of that... ~ We have some really good highways and curious about my question above; your response is noted. This is just a "general" question on any nice paved straightaway highways / roads.

Im just saying that regardless of how perfect we think the roads are or look...they aren't. Not saying your truck isn't pulling to one side.....but basing it on the roads you travel is not the way to do it.

Re: ~ Alignment Question ~ '14 SRT

personally I have a shop that I trust. If I took it to them and they aligned it....I would expect it to be aligned. If something was wrong....they would tell me. Maybe the dealers alignment shop is not a competent shop....no idea. But after 2 tries....I would pay the $59-$69 on my own to make sure if I was bothered by it.

Re: ~ Alignment Question ~ '14 SRT

Find a road that has a slight angle to the left instead of the right for the water drain.
Such as an interstates far left lane. If your jeep tracks to the right, uphill, take it to
the dealer for an alignment. If it tracks to the left, down hill, it's normal.

Mines all over the road(street). Roads around here are rough, seems like the interstates have constant road construction with temporary lanes and rough pavement which makes this tight suspension run flat tire competition track ready jeep a job to drive. The run flats are stiff and do make it worse but these are still super wide and low profile so the effect is feel the road and the low profiles will follow the pavement imperfections or pull left and right. Its not going to fix it to just get rid of the run flats but it will help.

Thank you so much ~ This is the kind of informative info. that I was looking for --- I will drive the highways this week and find a "sweet" spot to really give it a test. Ensure the SRT is at least going in the correct direction, "hands off" and I don't have an underlying issue. ie: -- Something slightly bent, like a (tie-rod end, etc.) or something else in the suspension/steering.

Re: ~ Alignment Question ~ '14 SRT

I figured..... I've driven way to many high end vehicles to know that something wasn't properly "completed"... For those with the drift issue to the right; post the 5 second mark on the crown (north-south sides of road) average times in both directions -- please refer to this --> http://www.wk2jeeps.com/tsb/tsb_wk2_0200314.pdf
