On my 2014 SRT whenever I drive over a speed bump (crawling speed with the weight of the car doing the work) as the front end drops over the bump, there is a clunk from the front end. I had this on my BMW X5 and they replaced all of the control arms etc to fix it.
I took the Jeep to the dealer who said they can find no issue at all and its the active suspension trying to adjust. The back end suspension is quiet. They said if I drove another SRT it would be the same, I didn't take them up on the offer as Id been there all day already.
Normal driving is ok, no issue, its only when going slow (less than 10mph) and I hit a bump or something
I have the same clunking on my 2014. Took it to the dealership twice (once in the US and once here in Austria) and they said they couldn't find anything wrong. My guess, is that they are blowing smoke up my ass so that the warranty will expire. Then charge me an arm and a leg to fix.
I imagine when I install my RM mids I'll be able to take a look under there and find what is causing the clunks. Will be interesting to know if you have any better luck on your end.
Keep me posted on what u find. Another dealer listened to it and said maybe something in the steering but my extended warranty was with yet another dealer so they couldn't confirm.
I have the same issue from exactly what you described. I have a missing strut mount stud. I've ordered a replacement strut mount and will see if that remedies the issue.
Warranty cannot be used at a dealer within 30 miles from purchasing dealer, they never said this at time of purchase, separate topic I guess and a bloody sore point to be honest. No matter, my closest dealer are numptys anyhow.

So I was on a test ride with my mechanic to find to find squeak coming from my sunroof (loose sunroof rail screw problem fixed) and I had asked him about that front end crunch sound (which we heard and he was well aware of). He had mentioned something to the effect that somewhere (I forgot where bc it's been a while) in the front end are like hard plastic hockey pucks and that's what we are hearing. It's normal and just a SRT quirk that I've learned to live with. Mine is a 2015.
Anyone have any updates to this? I noticed my '15 is starting to sound clunky over roads with uneven surfaces. Mostly in the under 30 mph zone. Sounds like all four corners.
I know someone will say just drive faster but that's not always possible on residential roads!
I have the same on my 14. Dealer said its the shocks but took it to my mechanic and he says the stocks are fine. Going to try to get more details of what the dealer thinks is the problem tomorrow.
I had a terrible metal on metal sound from front passenger suspension area. I took the Jeep in today and they put chassis ears (I think that's what they referred to them as) on the front end and narrowed the noise down to the sway bar, specifically the bushings. They ordered a new sway bar that included new bushings. Lubricating the bushings helped alleviate some of the noise but not eliminate it. I pick it up tomorrow and will report back.
Any update to this? I had a similar issue with my 14 and have it at the dealer now. They're going to hook up some tool to it that should help them locate the noise and pinpoint it better, but im not too hopeful.
Mine goes to tells dealer Monday. As suggested previously, I'm having them look at sway bar bushings, exhaust potentially knocking against heat shield/firewall and shocks. Let us know what you find out.
I can assure you all it's not a spring issue, installed RM mids, replaced the stock struts, still clank clank over speed bumps. Nothing worse than driving a beautiful SUV and having her announce her presence over every speed bump.
Sway bar bushing sounds exactly right, I'm in next Wednesday to confirm this on my end. Looking forward to updates from you all.
First place to look is the end links... OEM or aftermarket.
May need to be replaced or tightened. One test if you are willing is to remove them and retest for the sound.
Picked mine up from dealer today. Ended up being bad driver front strut. Replaced under warranty. Also had tcase and diff service done. Beast runs great again!
Glad to hear it. I picked mine up a few days ago and the dealer said they were unable to pinpoint the nose and that it would have to get a little more pronounced...
I too am still experiencing the "front end clunking". I took it to the dealer here and they said it was my Sway Bar bushings. They informed me that the sway bar and bushings are all one "unit" and that I had to buy a whole new sway bar to fix the problem.
I still have not purchased the sway bar, as I would like to compare what a new sway bar (and its bushings) look like vs. what I have going on under my Jeep.
So, if anyone reading this happens to have a picture of what new bushings are supposed to look like (while installed) then I would greatly appreciate it.
What a joke, I raised this issue with the dealer within the first few months of purchase and apparently they could not replicate the sound. If its faulty or worn bushes on a new vehicle producing the rattle that a lot of us have had it should have been a recall.
Now that vehicle is used they put the cost back to the consumer, ordinary form.
Mine feels like both front corners meaning both struts would be bad. I might give it another go at the dealer with this info and see what they say, cant hurt to try
Just wanted to see if anyone had, or could get a picture of the front sway bar bushings. Would like to compare what a good set looks like to the ones on my Jeep.
Dropped her off this morning at the dealer, went for a drive with the tech who confirmed the noise and immediately said it sounds like a strut issue not the end links......
Fingers crossed they replace them through warranty and we are all good.
Sorry to hear about having to go back to the dealer yet again. Hopefully they'll get you sorted and back on the road.
Let me ask you...Were you still under warranty when it was decided to replace your struts? My warranty has since expired, yet I reported this noise years ago to my dealer, who also couldn't diagnose the cause.
I might be up shit creek though.
Mike
