Directional Tires

I'm looking to buy replacement wheels and tires. I found some online where the front tires are 255/45 and the rear are 285/40. Is this normal? The tires are directional, so would this mean I would never be able to rotate the tires?

Has anyone used directional tires and never rotated them? Whats the wear like?

Thanks

cant be rotated because of the staggered sizes, not because they are directionals

Re: Directional Tires

Right. So how quickly do you think the tires will wear if I don't ever rotate them? They are general g-max tires.

Re: Directional Tires

I've got two different sizes on my Mercedes CLK320 with 33K miles on them and they are looking good. I expect 40- 50K out of them with ease and I'm not what you would call a conservative driver.

Re: Directional Tires

look at the treadwear rating. my wife's bmw came with staggered runflats rated at 120. they lasted about 12k front 20k rear. the new ones i got are 400, and they are superior all around.
