Hawk 5.0 pads update

Installed new front pads last week. Tired of the dust.... I would say well worth the $$ My guess is 5miles of dust on OEM= 50-75miles of Hawk.... Dust should even reduce more in time. And stopping distance may be reduced a bit , but you never notice it after driving and stopping the first couple of times.

Re: Hawk 5.0 pads update

What part number did you use? I just came back from a garage I trust. They were sent the wrong pads and rotors. According to Hawk's website, the part number appears to be wrong. Pads were too small along with the rotors.

Also, searching via our VIN, the same part numbers come up...which match the ones that were sent that are too small.

2014 SRT.

HB649B.605 Front pads. Didn't feel the need to replace back...

Re: Hawk 5.0 pads update

'14 dust all around; but the fronts are ridiculous for moderate street use. I can tell they'd be great for mild track/autoX use.

Re: Hawk 5.0 pads update

I'm very happy with the 5.0.....considerably less dust and more shine on the black chrome.... I think the HPS pads have the same amount of dust as OEM.

Re: Hawk 5.0 pads update

You didn't detect any performance loss from the 5.0? Are they expected to be harsher on rotor life?

The dust is driving me nuts but I don't want to sacrifice any more braking performance than absolutely necessary to reduce it...

Re: Hawk 5.0 pads update

I havnt hammered them hard yet to see if there's any fade... They def aren't like the OEM.... If they were there would be just as much dust.... I'm led foot and don't mind a little extra brake pressure for the lack of dust. So I guess I have noticed a small difference in stopping.

Re: Hawk 5.0 pads update

Which of the three HPS/5.0/Ceramic are the best tradeoff between dust and performance do you think?

Re: Hawk 5.0 pads update

I personally can't answer because I've only used the 5.0... I believe the best pads for performance produce a lot of dust....
