Re: Need to Order Brake Discs and Pads... Where do you recommend?

Now I'm in need of front brakes. I'm only interested in OEM or upgraded. I followed the advice here and found these: 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT 6.4L V8 Automatic. #68144427AB: Brake pads. Disc Brake Pad. FRONT PADS.

It says they are for our Jeeps but the price seems too good to be true. Has anyone ordered from here and are these prices correct?

Also trying to decide if I should order a full set of cross drilled or just new OEM fronts

Re: Need to Order Brake Discs and Pads... Where do you recommend?

Well, now I'm really confused. I just called my dealer and gave them my Vin Number. Both parts department and service department confirmed the following prices:

Front Pads: $130
Rear Pads: $130
Front Rotors: $262
Rear Rotors: $245

Dealer ordered front pads and rotors for me. I'm not revealing my dealer until they are installed. I'm still skeptical. Fingers crossed

Re: Need to Order Brake Discs and Pads... Where do you recommend?

Back in the early days of the SRT line Chrysler wanted over $400 for the front pads for our 300C SRT8... Not only was I hesitant to spend that much but ended up they were on backorder right as I NEEDED a set...

I hopped on a popular forum and found I was not alone. Long story short, many on that forum had connections and they started tracking back to find the OEM supplier of the pads for Chrysler / Brembo...

This search went all the way back to Germany (and at the time stalled for a few weeks until they found someone who spoke German and could translate some of the documents found).

It ended up that Bendix / Honeywell was the original supplier and the specs were IDENTICAL to their TitaniuMetallic Line.

Myself and MANY others ordered them and found they were indeed identical, all the way down to the markings & numbers etched into the metal backing.

Now, I can not be 100% sure Bendix / Honeywell still makes them for Chrysler... When I pulled the pads off my 2012 JGC SRT it had NO markings on the metal to give it away. But other than the blue bed-in material (something Bendix just started adding a few years ago) they did look exactly the same as the OEM.

The Bendix Part # is MKD1405 and can be bought for $35 for the front with free shipping (continental U.S.) from Amazon...

*** As a side note, Bendix actually has an upgraded version for many of the pads made for the service industry (Taxi / Police)... They don't offer it on the SRT Jeep but just for reference, you just add an FM to the end of the part number where applicable. I know for my R/T Magnum they were a great upgrade even over the "SRT" pads on our 300C.

Just saw this on another thread...

I've used the Bendix parts on 2 SRTs and there is no difference. Same stopping power and dust.

Your dealer will go to put them on and go wtf? Put a 350mm rotor on a 380mm.

They'll still come back ask you to pay the big price. I went to the dealer they gave me price $130 said ill take them. Get the box definitely not right pads. Then they dug deeper and found SRT pads were backordered and i was 45th in line lol

Re: Need to Order Brake Discs and Pads... Where do you recommend?

^ Man I hope not. I did my due diligence as much as possible. Two separate people confirmed with my vin number to make sure there isn't a mistake. I will very pissed off if I waste time dropping the Jeep off only to have their quote be wrong!

sounds like OEM pads are pretty good stuff, need to give them a shot someday.
I have 2 pairs of ebc ultimax USR7597 and USR7598 for my next few years of replacements. Hard to pass up paying $200 shipped for a complete set of ebc rotors (front and back)

Same thing I thought. I told them about online prices so they double checked and double checked. Both departments confirmed they were priced per set. I'll see it when I believe it

Won't those dust the same as OEM?

I went with HAWK HPS all around, amazing pads!

My preference... Go OEM! Definitely will consider slotted discs down the road too!
