OEM Front rotors and pads in Melbourne, Australia?

Hi All,

So my Jeep dealer quoted me $5k to replace my front rotors, pads and tyres all round today. I declined.

Looking to stick with OEM rotors & pads if I can, but happy to go with whatever for tyres (looking at the Nexen Roadian HP's at the moment).

I have looked online and looks like I can get OEM rotors and pads imported from the states for around $830AUD delivered. I would prefer however to source somewhere in Melbourne (or at least Australia) who carries stock and is close to this pricing.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Just for my own clarity. What are peoples thoughts around 3rd party options for rotors and pads? Have found a supplier in Melbourne who has DBA rotors and Protex pads. Anybody heard of/used these before?

I have heard that a lot of people in the Melbourne SRT club are using Hawk Performance ceramic pads. Apparently they perform as good as factory pads of not better but the best thing is you don't get the crazy brake dust like you do with factory pads.

Re: OEM Front rotors and pads in Melbourne, Australia?

I run Hawk Ceramic in my car, mainly due to the dust reduction. I now get the same amount of dust on the fronts with the Hawks as I do with the rears with the OEM, which is virtually nil. I would recommend them for a replacement. I have not really pushed them hard on the track, but I have no complaints.
The front rotors should be replaced with the DBA rotors, as they cost 1/2 of what the Brembo OEM's cost and are far better for both lifespan and looks.
The Brembo rotors are very soft, where you almost need to replace the rotors with the pads, which makes it very costly. The DBA's are much harder and will last much longer.

I am changing the Pirelli OEM Run Flats for Non run flats on my new car which I haven't picked up yet ( Dealer is doing the swap ) . I have called lots of tyre dealers and everyone has not had good things to say about the Roadians except they are cheap and the ride is soft . I have chosen Continental UHP's which are about $450ea and said to be standard on ML Benzs . They are supposed to be much quieter than Pirellis and way better ride too , which is what I want

Re: OEM Front rotors and pads in Melbourne, Australia?

Thanks all for the feedback.

I think I might aim for something similar Enforcer, especially the rotors. 99% of the driving in my SRT is commuting with very little "spirited driving", so was very surprised to hear that at 26,000km I was told that I needed both new rotors and pads. Definitely want something both longer lasting and less dusty.

I swapped out my Pirelli's day one too. Ended up replacing them with a set of Nankang SP7. Have been pleasantly surprised given the price difference. I'm actually a little suspect of the dealers assessment of my tyres. I think they have about 3~4mm left (will need a closer look) where the legal limit is 1.5mm here in Victoria.

Was looking at the Nexen as they have a higher speed rating than my Nankang and one of the tyre review sites I was reading gave them a decent rating. From my experience with tyre dealers, I'd only even consider trusting the word of an independent. Had two of the well known chains flat out tell me that the Pirelli Verde were the ONLY tryes made that would fit the Jeep. Might read a little further about the Roadian HP tyres in that case.

Cheers.
