Re: HOW TO: 2014 Grill ring removal

Ok guys...I need your help here. I'm in northern NJ and I had popped off my chrome rings over the weekend and took them to my guy who does all my cars window tints, tail lights, etc.... I dropped off the rings on Monday and I called him today cause I haven't heard from him and he then tells me he can't wrap them with the glossy black vinyl cause apparently he said the one side doesn't want to stay or some crap like that. Does anyone know someone in NJ that can do this for me. I don't want to paint because I drive a decent amount and get little rocks flying up and paint just won't work. I'll be seeing a bunch of chrome specks though the paint before ya know it. Any other ideas or suggestions also welcome. Thanks.

Re: HOW TO: 2014 Grill ring removal

You are far better to paint them, as any wrapping will peel off in a short time. This is primarily due tot he edges and curves. If they are properly prepared, the paint will be as tough as wrap. You can also touch them up with a sharpie, if you do get chips.

Re: HOW TO: 2014 Grill ring removal

I would paint and then just touch up as needed. Wrap will have the chance of peeling due to the curves.

Re: HOW TO: 2014 Grill ring removal

You can order them on Amazon/eBay/auto parts stores pretty cheap. Worth the investment and can be used for lots of stuff.

Re: HOW TO: 2014 Grill ring removal

Very much appreciated write up. My added advice is.. just give them hell and they pop out. Nothing broke after I stopped finessing.

Took me all of 5 minutes to remove the grill trim rings and lower triangular trim as well.
