Re: HOW TO: Remove and replace your D1S headlight bulbs

I ordered a set of D1S 6000K to replace the stock ones and I have a few questions :
1. The D1S is used for both high and low beam. Then why they called low beam ones?
Here is what I ordered: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/310649475125?...#ht_2103wt_858
The name is 6000K Bulbs HID Xenon Low Beam Headlight Pair 2 Bulb D1S D1R D1C 6000 k 6K White
Will it not work when I switch to the high beam? Do I need some othe D1S bulbs that are both low and high?
2. In the instructions you need to unplug the battery, why? Is it necessary?
3. Is the 6000K legal in Canada Ontario?

Thanks a lot!

Re: HOW TO: Remove and replace your D1S headlight bulbs

Hey guys,
Went to the dealer for drl socket replacement now all the sudden one of my HID lenses are smudged. Dont know why or how they said they never touched it......Fine......Is that the bulb itself or the outer most housing you see from outside the vehicle in the headlight housing. Debating weather to pull it and clean but if its the bulb itself like an incandescent the damage is done already. i guess. They wont warranty anything till it blows, then i asked is it a warranty answer and he didnt have an answer for me on that, one as well.... Good thing my Tipm went and they had one on the shelf......SCORE!!!!!!!!!!!!

thats the projector lens you see....not the bulb. Did they smudge the outer lens?

Re: HOW TO: Remove and replace your D1S headlight bulbs

Having a struggle getting the passenger side light back in. Took the rubber boot off pulled the old bulb out unplugged, plugged in the new bulb but now cannot get it to fasten into place. I thought the bulb snapped in but maybe twists in? Very frustrating. Any help would be appreciated.

Oh, new member, 3rd GC, Current is a 2012 Overland.

Thanks

Jim

Sounds like you just pulled the old bulb out without unlocking it. Unlock where the bulb goes in and it will slide right in.

Not really Scott
I'm fighting with it right now the metal fingers are so confusing. I cant tell its it in or out. When I think I have it locked in it falls out. Really frustrating
I figured it out. I did not know the metal fingers go around the square ballast. Good video on a Bimmer forum helped me out Whewww

You need to push it through the metal fingers so they expand to capture the blub, then rotate locking mechanism.

The High beam and low beam bulbs are identical then?
