14+ headlights; few questions

like many others, i'm thinking i might want to convert to the newer style led/hid headlights. now, my 11 overland has hid currently and, forgive me since i'm new to this, but the projectors themselves do move up and down.

so, if i'm shopping for new lights do i need to get afs or non afs to prevent throwing codes, etc?

also, i see many good bargains on working lights with broken mounting tabs. has anybody done a retrofit with broken tabs and how did you rectify that issue?

i know there are plenty of threads on this topic, but i thought these two questions were specific enough to post uniquely

Re: 14+ headlights; few questions

I helped a guy put the lights into a 11-13 (he had halogens mind you), and he had unknowingly purchased afs lights. He told me he was able to access the lights and manually move them left to right, he centered them, then last I heard he had no problems. Didn't tell me if it was throwing any codes...

I would suggest you do not want afs lights, no one that I'm aware of has been able to make them actually work. My non afs lights do have the ability to move up and down, I believe thats just the lights levelling themselves. That may or may not work depending on your wiring harness. Mine do not.

Yeah I see lights for sale with broken tabs too, having taken mine on an off quite a few times, that top tab is useful, kind of tells me that the housing is seated correctly, however once the lights are bolted in, it doesn't really serve any purpose I think...

Good luck

Since your truck already has bixenon.

You will need a conversion kit.
Kit would be:
2011-2013 to 2014+ pin coversion chart ( to retain all function)

Femaie 16 pin connector x 2
Female metal contacts x 32
50 watt 6 ohm resistors x 2

This is not a plug and play swap and will require re pinning the wiring into the 16 pin connector.
