Re: '14 window tint

Looks real good. I went in yesterday to get the fronts matched to the rear and unfortunately they were overbooked.

Re: '14 window tint

Got the fronts matched to the rears and I love the consistent look all around. I'll try and snap a few shots this weekend when I clean it up if we don't get rain again.

Re: '14 window tint

That I have to see. I washed her over the weekend and went in to nap. Planned on taking some pictures once i woke up and my wife had went out to her friends house and she lives on a dirt road. Such a waste of time and she didn't realize till after I mentioned it.

Re: '14 window tint

For those of you that got your windows tinted, did the tint shop have to remove your door panels to do the tint job? I had this one local shop do all the windows on my wife's car and they hosed the driver's side door panel by scratching it and I am not going through that again.

I wasn't going to ask him to, but my tiny guy said he wouldn't do it anyway. Something about the stuff they squirt on the glass would drip down and cause the leather dash to bubble.

No, they didn't remove the door panels. Go to a tint shop that knows what they're doing.

Re: '14 window tint

On my 2011, I had Llumar 15% installed on the fronts and Air Blue 80 ceramic on all the other windows, including the windshield (not the sunroof because my tint guy said that can lead to shattered glass).

I plan on the exact same tint for my 2014. The Air Blue 80 does a great job mitigating heat transfer, especially from the windshield. Only minor gripe is that the ceramic tint will produce rainbow colors if you use polarized glasses...simple fix...don't wear polarized sunglasses.

Doesn't noticeably cut light transmission through the windshield (even thought it is a 78% tint), but it does keep the dash and steering wheel noticeably cooler.

Here are the AIR Blue 80 specs:

Visible Light Transmittance: 78%
Total Solar Energy Rejected: 43%
Visible Light Reflected: 9%
Ultraviolet Rejected: 99.9 %
Infrared Transmission (1600 Nanometers): <11%
Infrared Transmission (1090 Nanometers): <17%

Re: '14 window tint

I should add that the reason I got the Air Blue 80 in the first place was because I have a leather dash and thought it would help prolong the life of the leather. My Jeep is parked at the airport in the Colorado sun most of each week and the dash looks as new as the day I bought it two years ago. Also, I should have said it is noticeably less hot, vs. noticeably cooler, especially the wood part of the steering wheel.
