Yeah I would be cautious no doubt. It's all about the amount of heat it causes on the glass.

Re: '14 window tint

I also recently had my windows tinted. I put 50% on the front 2 windows and 70% Crystalline on the windshield and pano-sunroof. I would have gone darker but front tint is not allowed in California.

My tint guy also said that cracking can be a problem when tinting a sunroof due to too much heat accumulating in the glass. Due to this they were not willing to install any other type of tint on sunroofs except for the 3M Crystalline. The darkest Crystalline that you can get is 50% so maybe dark vs. light tint is a part of it as well as the higher heat rejection of the Crystalline.

Re: '14 window tint

My Overland goes for tint on Saturday. Just so I know ahead of time...I want 20% on the front windows to match the back, not 15% right? Thanks

Yes, 20% will match the factory tint.

You can also ask the tint shop to place a sample over the window for confirmation, before it's applied.

Factory tint is 18% so 15 or 20% is fine. I did 20% on mine

I believe the shop I'm using uses LLumar tint film.
its a dead on match from the outside. Llumar also has a 20%, but that was just a few shades lighter and doesn't really match.

My last WK had 15% Llumar for over 6yrs and it never faded, it looked perfect since the first day installed.

Thanks for the help! Had the option of the Llumar 15 or 20. Went with the 15 and am extremely happy. It's a perfect match and having it a little bit darker than the 20 doesn't bother me.

Would have went with the 20 if you hadn't recommended the 15. Thanks again!

Just got 20 put on my front two windows yesterday (tint shop didn't have 15). Looking closely, I can tell it is a shade lighter than the back, but still looks good.

Thanks for everyone's advice!
