Re: 1st Mod : Nav - RA3 to RA4

The link you posted is the incorrect one it is for the cherokee. Not the grand cherokee.
Here:
http://oemautopartsco.com/collection...-4an-ra4-radio

I just don't feel like paying almost double so what other options do we have?

I have not bought one, but would like to. I tired calling the # he had posted from past eBay listings, but it is not receiving calls. I tried sending a message on ebay too. If you can get ahold of him, I'd love to buy a unit immediately.

Re: 1st Mod : Nav - RA3 to RA4

Maxbear3145 is correct about the source of the seller units. I never met him but I utterly trust and recommend the seller, I can't disclose why, because of an agreement that we had. I can attest because I was the first to mention this retrofit to this forum and to this day everything works as it should.

I speculate there's a decline in units available, maybe because of year change. My suggestion is to keep checking eBay.

Also i just read this on the site mentioned above that sells this unit for $1400:
This system is being offered as a direct 8.4A/RA3 or 8.4AN/RA4 replacement. You cannot upgrade (as of now) from the RA1 or RA2 to the 8.4" screen.

My Laredo E had the RA2 before I purchased the RA4 from the eBay seller.

I vouch for the seller too. He tried his best to sort out the issues I had (even though I'm based in the Middle East).I guess only a couple of the units remained when I bought it a month back.

I also got one and have absolutely no problems with it. We spoke on the phone and texted during the purchase. Hopefully he will have some soon for those of you looking to upgrade.

Re: 1st Mod : Nav - RA3 to RA4

What features does the RA4 offer over the RA3? Also, what are you guys doing with the RA3's that you are replacing?

Sirius Travel Link, HD Radio, Nav on instrument cluster, 3D Nav, full voice activated Nav. You need to send the RA3 in for a core charge. PM me and I can tell you how to get it for $749 shipped.

Re: 1st Mod : Nav - RA3 to RA4

RA4 shipped Monday and I got it in yesterday. Took all of about 10mins to get it swapped out (from an RA3). Seamless... It works great, not a single issue. All of the features work perfectly too. I took the time to update my CHR558 v2 Lockpick while the screen was out (firmware version 1.5 is out). I had been having a couple of random issues with it, but I am hoping the new firmware release clears that up. I did notice the RA4 shipped with an older software 14.05.?? or something like that, so I did reluctantly attempt to update it to 14.25.5. I was a little nervous do to the fact I had previously updated the RA3 to this level and didn't know if various other modules besides the RA3 might have already been updated and it would crash on a software mis-match or something like that. It took a really LONG time on the embedded aircard, longer than I have seen before. In the end, everything turned out well and its working great. I might mention that the place I sourced my RA4 from was also able to add that sales code to my VIN to allow for warranty work in the future (mine still is in the factory warranty).
