I purchased a new navi unit from ebay ( user id : daimlerfinancial ). I ordered it off ebay ( saved me 60 bucks ) $730 out the door shipped. I paid asap... two days later it comes. The install was a total joke.. so simple... popped off a couple of clips, used a 7mm to remove the old ra3 unit. Then I took out the vents and put them into the new housing.

When doing this install remember to plug in the dark red plug ( some people already have it like plugged in , like I did b/c I have the 911 assist).

My eco button does light up and work correctly btw.

Here are a few pictures : I hope this helps - Ill keep you guys updated if anything changes.

thanks
mike

So instead of paying the 700 to have navigation activated...and not have the same navigation or options. ..you installed an ra4 and it works perfect?

Good job!

So why didn't you get the vehicle with the RA4 radio from the beginning?unless you bought it from dealer stock and it didn't have it, then I understand.

i just pulled the housing from the bottom and worked my way up slowly. It came out really easy. Then I took the 4 bolts with a 7mm socket and removed the old unit. Next I took the Dark Red, Yellow, White and Grey plugs off the old unit ... followed by the black ( main one ) . Make sure you search around your dashboard for the dark red cord and plug it in. Also , you will see a blue cord. Just leave it alone , and do not plug it in at all.

Turn on the truck after your done. Enter the 4 digit pin code. You will see a dodge ram logo for the first time ( it will go away and revert to Jeep ) when your done.

Wait 30 minutes after you enter the pin code and start the truck up. you should be good to go.

Thanks Man.
Regarding the blue cable this is what "Daimler financial" had to say:

Yes, but if it doesn't have the "blue" plug in it it will not have GPS. You will need to pull your headliner down and see if the blue plug in your headliner right by the shark fin antenna is plugged in to the antenna.

Yes, the install is a breeze!!!

Did you get the uConnect store working?

Also, This is my humble opinion about this "hack"... In case of the missing pre-wired GPS antenna cable, and to avoid removing the headliner, I would try to use this or similar:

Chevrolet Cadillac Hummer GM GMC GPS Navigation Map Antenna GP 05 3M | eBay

And mount the square antenna at the middle top dash(if it bothers you, maybe a small custom fabrication to make it less noticeable). I used a similar antenna with my Pioneer App Radio in my old Jetta(inside the car/top dash) and it worked perfectly.

Successful swap on my Laredo E RA2 to RA4.

Mine came with the sharkfin but I haven't opened the hard liner yet. Hopefully I will find the blue cable. But the twist is I'm not sure if the maps are going to work here in the Middle East(Dubai)!!! Keeping my fingers crossed on this.
Did the park assist work???
And you opened up this whole mod for me when I stumbled on your another RA2....thread!!! Salute...

Hi,
No I did not. He said its on your Honor system. Told me to take my time to see how everything works out. I paid 730 out the door for this unit.

Here is another picture of the navi working in the cluster.

I wish I could reset this RA3 unit and sell it outright.... does anyone know if that's even possible?

Made contact with the seller directly. Should be getting my RA4 Wednesday of this coming week. Thanks for posting this. The dealership wants $595 to active NAV on the RA3. A little bit more and I can get all the other features from the head unit.

So just a quick update. The Navi headunit had a software revision of 12.29.4 .

So I did some digging and updated it to 14.05.3

Here is the Link to do so ( the iso file unpacked )

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bwia3dq02BLxbzc5X3NTZkw4SHM/edit?usp=sharing

The update worked perfectly. No issues at all right now. The only thing I am unable to figure out is how to get the Uconnect Working properly.

The 1st picture is showing the old software
The 2nd is after I updated it with the 14.05.3 Iso file via usb
The 3rd is showing the uconnect application... trying to connect but this is all it does....

Thats all I have for now.. Ill keep you guys posted if anything changes.

Received and Completed! Thanks for the initial thread to get my ass up and make this decision. I truly believe its worth the extra cost just for the HD radio! Let me know if you ever get Uconnect setup. I didn't use it on the RA3 because I stream everything from my iPhone (faster).
