Re: 2011-2013 Foglight upgrade Option

Besides the little extra "throw" from the low beam, those fogs almost produce more useable light. I am positive I will be going with my selection of fogs, however, these have me seriously thinking this may be a great alternative.

Thanks again for the pictures, Todd. This is exactly what I am looking for.

Re: 2011-2013 Foglight upgrade Option

Todd,

Did you mention you replaced your stock halogen bulbs as well? I am interested in changing out those bulbs because I hate how yellow they are.

Came from an Audi with HID and now have the Altitude, which you couldn't get with HIDs (why not, I still do not know). Love my black bezels, but hate the damn yellow bulbs.

Same for the fogs. The Audi people used to use a company called Hoen Xenonmatch. Anyone ever looked into them (they make both low beam bulbs and fogs).

I went with the Sylvania H11 XV XtraVision bulbs, you can find them at Walmart for about $23.

They are a little less 'yellow' than the OEM because they have a little more 'power' than OEM. I wish we could find the original SilverStar bulbs here in the states (without the cheesy blue tint).

I've read too many bad things about the blue tinted bulbs including less than 1 year of life.... I wanted better light, but didn't want to be replacing bulbs every 11-12 months.

I can't tell because they don't have pics of the bulbs on their site:
Hoen
But if they are claiming to 'color match' HID bulbs, then they are probably using blue tint. If the light is only 55 watt, that means you are not getting as much light onto the road.

Right now, the LED fogs with the halogen low beams makes a good color combination on the road. Though I wouldn't mind HID or LED low beams also.

Re: 2011-2013 Foglight upgrade Option

The harness on the link that's supposedly a perfect fit didn't work for me on the truck's harness side. Not sure if they sent me the wrong one or what. So I ended up going old school, cut the truck harness and hardwired with black tape. If you lift the front you can do this job sitting on the ground. You'll need a 7mm socket to remove 3 screws that hold the lens in place.

From factory, the fogs were aimed way too low. But it's very easy to adjust using the adjusting screws. With not even a full turn they were higher and looked a lot better. I used my HID's light cut on the wall as reference. Pretty easy. The light is pure white, don't know the temp but they look whiter than my 5k HIDs.

Re: 2011-2013 Foglight upgrade Option

I got my kit last week and will be doing a writeup of making them compatible for our WK2, I hope to get to it this weekend.

Can't wait!

I forgot to mention in my first post that these would also work for the 2011-2013 WD Dodge Durango

Re: 2011-2013 Foglight upgrade Option

Just ordered a pair of these from XenonDepot along with the plug n play harness that Raptor posted above (see post #127). Used a Halloween 5% off code for the lights and it came to $275 shipped which seems to be a pretty good price. Looking forward to getting them installed!

Re: 2011-2013 Foglight upgrade Option

Price going up at the end of business day today. JW speaker is implementing a MAP pricing policy, and we need to raise the pricing on all of our JW speaker LED products.

If you're on the fence about this product, now is the time to buy.
