Re: 2011-2013 Foglight upgrade Option

The visionX don't have a cut off like the JW, neither do OE, but for what I use them for they are significantly better. There's a 10* and 60* set. The 60's aimed well don't upset anyone and the light output is far greater than others as is the tank like build/overkill. I'm in Florida so fog isn't an issue and I wanted more fill on the far end as well curb feelers. The 10* throw light further with more power than anything I've seen in their size and output,10w. On the highway they are amazing. They light up street signs, hobos, washing machines, and police car doors at 1/2 mile+. Florida is ridiculous.

For pure fogs the JW are still a very good light, I'd like to know how the copies work because while the lighting impressed me the cheap build did not, even if unnecessary the lighting doesn't justify the price of a moded stock housing to me, it does work well.

i actually have both sets, the JW Speakers & the Amazon knockoffs...I just recently installed the JW Speaker lights and personally am not impressed with the light output. I have not installed the $40-50 Amazon knockoffs yet for a comparison but a side by side construction they look very similar so much that you can't really tell a difference

here is a side by side of both sets of lights

After having a chrome set on my truck and now a blacked out set of JWs on my Daily driver. I feel the chrome ones seem to put out slightly more light than the blacked out ones. I know it shouldn't matter since they are projectors but my guess is that the chrome has a slight benefit in scattering light a short distance in front of the truck.

Well... since you have both... pretty sure you should hook one up of each and give a comparison lol

If I bought these, which adapter should I buy with them? And outside of those two items, anything else I would need?

Re: 2011-2013 Foglight upgrade Option

So I am installing a set of JW this weekend. Question for those who have installed them.

I have over sized tires 275/55/20 with QL system. Do you think I am going to have any issues with the install (leaving the tires on)??

Yes you will have issues. You will definitely want to jack up your front end and remove the front wheels unless you really want to struggle.

Trust me.

Boo that sucks. I was hoping putting it into OR2 would be enough.

Disregard the above statement..... I also have 275/55R20 tires w/QL. RAISE THE JEEP TO MAXIMUM HEIGHT, cut the wheel your working on towards the center of the vehicle, peel back the fender liner, and access the fog light no need to remove the tires. Removing the tires will certainly give you more room to work but it can be done while leaving them on!

The install was relatively easy.....First if you have Quadra Lift, lift your jeep up to Off Road 2 for maximum height and lock it in position. You can remove the fronts wheels for clearance to work, but it's not necessary. You need to partially remove the front fender liners just behind the fogs. To do this just remove the lower front fender liner 10mm bolt and lower front plastic retainer (twist 1/2 turn, pull out) on each side just to the rear of the OEM fogs.

This is a pic of what you'll be looking at; http://wk2jeeps.com/pdf/2012_WK_front_fog_removal.pdf
Note you need to remove the three (3) OEM 7mm mounting screws to remove the fogs.

Next hook and pull the lower front part of the fender liners back & out of the way w/a bungee cord giving you access to the rear of the OEM fogs. Now looking up to where the fogs mount, remove the three 7mm OEM hex screws, unclip the OEM electrical connector, and pull the OEM fog lights out. On the passenger side if you have quadra lift the OEM compressor is somewhat in the way so you can't actually see the inboard hex screw and will have to remove it by feel. I used a 1/4" flex head rachet w/a 7mm deep socket to remove the OEM hex screws. Mounting the JW speaker fogs is pretty simple, they fall into place just like the OEM fogs with the same mounting lug alignment and screw holes.... Bolt right up!

I made my own plug and play harness adaptors as the JW Speaker 6145 fogs only come w/9005 (H10) wire plugs. You'll need to make two small adaptor harness' to fit the OEM harness which connects to the OEM 2504 bulb. You need a 5202 type plug for this type bulb. I ordered what I needed from; http://autolumination.com/headlights.htm to custom make the 6" adaptor harness'.

These guys will sell you the exact adaptor harness you need if you don't/can't solder yourself;

http://www.headlightrevolution.com/J...p-harness1.htm Get the harness for the 2504 bulb.

http://www.tlg-auto.com/JEEP_JK_Wran..._p/jeep003.htm

After they were mounted I had to adjust both JW Speaker fogs upward as they were aimed to low out of the box. After straightening my front tires, & lowering to normal ride height, I left the lower front fender liner 10mm bolts and plastic retainers off so I could reached up behind the liners, in front of the tires, to adjust the fogs with a phillips screwdriver. A couple of turns clockwise brought them up to illuminate the foreground nicely!
