Re: 2011 factory HID to 2014 factory HID coversion

For the gap... how about molding a piece yourself? Fiberglass + bondo + sanding + paint.

How much do you think the conversion for the lights alone has cost? I don't want the '14 front end, but I do want the LED's.

In a similar vein, I had been wondering if it would be possible to take the LEDs out of some '14 lamps (or create the same shape with your own LEDs) and opening up a pair of '12 lamps, and using the running light wire to power the LED strip (if it were to fit inside of the '12 lamps). Thoughts?

Re: 2011 factory HID to 2014 factory HID conversion ***UPDATED & PICS***

Hi there
Great job with the upgrade to 2014
I'm located in Poland Europe and was thinking about the same thing
I have 2012 GK S-limited which is kind a like srt inside but limited outside and with 3.0 diesel. Anyways, can you send me a diagram with how to connect the new lamps with the old connector. I will give my car to a specialist so a basic diagram would work just fine.
I noticed you dont have headlamp washers. Here they are a must. I also know that new lamps have them integrated. Is that the case with your update.
I really appreciate your answer
Best regards
Tom

Re: 2011 factory HID to 2014 factory HID coversion (finished pics!!!)

I went ahead and finished the upgrade. I also went with the SRT hood and added a set of black tow hooks. The truck looks AWESOME!

Re: 2011 factory HID to 2014 factory HID coversion

Oh and by the way...there are various parts needed to make this happen THE CORRECT way. These include:

1. The 2014+ headlights, and a wiring harness of some sort (i built mine - see previous posts in this thread):

20140515_191737.jpg

2. 2014+ front bumper cover complete - grille, fascia, lower valance, fog lights (I got the complete assembly used)

3. 2014+ bumper absorber (bought new):

4. 2014+ bumper brackets - 3 per side (bought new):

Before paint, obviously:

Looks great! I considered doing the hood As well however I thought I had spent enough on my mods, congrats though on the completion! I know it's been a long work in progress and I was so psyched after I got mine done. Keep her pretty!

2011 factory HID to 2014 factory HID coversion

Awesome transformation, exactly what I'd like to do with mine! Looks like I'll be adding a few things to my x-mas list. +rep

Any chance you have parts list you could post for the items that you bought new?

I do, but not on me here at work. If you give me a couple days to round up the part numbers I'll post them here.

Re: 2011 factory HID to 2014 factory HID coversion

A used SRT bonnet from a panel beater can go in the thousands. It might be cheaper for you guys in the states being a local car. I think for us down under it might be cheaper to upgrade to the 14.
