2011 Grand Cherokee (Removing Chrome)

Just Got a 2011 Grand Cherokee Last week Base Color Stone white absolutly love it so far.
Goal is to remove all the chrome and make black.
Does anyone know how to remove chrome from the window lining.
Also the chrome piece in the back can that chrome strip with the word jeep on it can that piece be reomved with fish pole string like the sides?

You'll have to either paint, vinyl wrap, or plasti-dip the trim around the windows.

The chrome strip on the back with the word "Jeep" on it snaps onto a retaining piece, but you'd have to replace it with the black altitude version or have your chrome piece painted and then reinstalled.

Re: 2011 Grand Cherokee (Removing Chrome)

Oh really damit that sucks hmm im trying to make only the black letters stand out in the back. If i plasti dip the chrome emblem stone white like the factory color and just the letters black do you think that will work? no ones every done that on a 2011 verision. Im plasti dipping my rims black to i should probley do the rims and chrome same color black.

Also the side chrome weddings they can come right off right?

Getting it painted would probably look/match better than plasti-dip.

The chrome "grand cherokee" moldings on the doors does come off - you'll more than likely have to do some clean-up on the paint afterwards.

Re: 2011 Grand Cherokee (Removing Chrome)

A good paint shop will be able to prep and paint the chrome to make it come out good, if you want to do it yourself I'm sure you can find info on how to properly prep chrome before painting it.

If you try and take your time removing the side moldings, the clean-up shouldn't be too bad - I didn't have to use any solvents - just a lot of elbow grease, and a claybar helped.

I used a claybar, some meguiar's quick detailer spray, and a lot of elbow grease. Once I got all of the residue off I washed and waxed the whole Jeep.

Sorry I don't have any good recent pictures - but I have the black door lettering from the Altitude and it looks so much better than the chrome molding. I also got the black Jeep badge for the hood, and I've ordered a set of painted door handles which should be here tomorrow - hoping to get those installed this weekend.

I did exactly what youre planning to do. Removed all the chrome from my Jeep. I removed, painted, and reinstalled the front and rear emblems. Chrome door moldings replaced with black GC script. Rear chrome bar was removed. The bar was painted body color and the emblem in it painted back. Painted the grill black. Replaced the chrom headlights with black altitude ones. Wheels are done in black. Only thing ive been putting off is the window trim. No plastidip used, all automotive paint done professionally. I love the look

That looks good man. Question for you. Is the removing the back chrome piece same like the side? Meaning is it only glued on or and it bolted on. Also are your front headlights blackened? I wanna get that for mine. Shark fin is sick I wanna get that too.
