2011 Limited Headlight Retrofit

I told myself I wouldn't do it, especially since we purchased a 2011 Limited GC, but I couldn't help myself. My first major project on the Jeep is to remove the stock bi-xenon projectors in favor of much higher quality projectors.

Why you ask? I do a lot of night driving and I realized how mediocre the OEM bi-xenon's are. They're "acceptable" and look nice, but after doing a couple retrofits in the past, I know how much better they could or should be. The light output is a night and day difference between stock and what I want to install.

Currently, I have a pair of new FX-R 3.0's that I never got around to installing on my last vehicle. My goal is to stick with these until the end, however, I may go with an even better projector that's smaller. I'm already seeing major fitment issues right off the bat.

Here are a couple pics/teasers of the FX-R 3.0's. At 25 feet are when these puppies really look sharp. The first two are pictures I took tonight, the third is from a couple years ago when I first purchased the 3.0's. I was a good 25-30 feet from the wall.

I will keep updating as much as I can. The next three weeks will most likely be fairly slow so please be patient!

Re: 2011 Limited Headlight Retrofit

Nice! I have a set of FX-R clear lenses that I bought from TRS that I have been wanting to install for a while, but the more I think about it the more I want to just swap out the whole projector and do some custom work (paint/halos).

I'll be following this to see how it turns out. I had a set of FX-R's retrofitted on my 2010 Ram and loved it.

Re: 2011 Limited Headlight Retrofit

This retro will be pretty straight forward with FX-R 3.0's. After that I will probably do a little more work with painting and maybe get some modded RX350's in there instead.

My first retro pictured below (and second on a friend's car) were the MH1's. Not bad projectors, but I definitely want "more".

Don't mind the squished bug on my headlight.

You think you'll be able to cram those FX-Rs in the headlamp housing? Hate that you're the guinea pig but I'm eagerly awaiting to see what you come up with!

Re: 2011 Limited Headlight Retrofit

My goal is to find a way to mount the FX-R's onto the OEM mounts to ensure consistency on both sides. At this point, I am leery of that even happening.

Even after shortening the mounting holes, the FX-R still touches them. I think with a little more trimming it may work, but time will tell.

Ultimately, I may have to create a metal bracket.
