2011 loud locks

My 'new to me' 2011 Overland has very loud auto door locks. Locking or unlocking is done with a very loud clunk from every door. Everything works fine, it's just very loud. Is this normal?

Re: 2011 loud locks

My 2011 Limited locks is audible, but I would not classify it as loud. I like being able to hear them lock though.

Yes. Don't sweat the small stuff.

Re: 2011 loud locks

In a vehicle of this "quality" it is ridiculous. It's undoubtedly an oversight, one of many. I was conditioned to say it's a jeep thing when my limited cost $30k not at $50k. I've owned and built dozens of jeeps through the years many new, it WAS a jeep thing, now it's just sad we keep buying American when even the same parent companies make better quality vehicles for less in a different brand., but their American counterparts are still penny pinching on upper echelon products. Sound attenuation is a science but similar facets have been easily solved in much less expensive cars for years. Ahhh. Sorry yes they're louder and more pronounced than any other I've heard in a long while. Wish I took pictures but string isolators and strategic dynamat will reduce the impact and volume by 30%ish., not sure it was worth it. I used to enjoy taking doors apart, not so much anymore.

Re: 2011 loud locks

My 2011 is exactly the same. The 2012s have a rubber housing around the lock stalk that I believe help with the 'noise'. Never bothered me too much, but probably easy to install.
