Its really none of their business. I'd like to say that Ive furthered the wk platform with my mods and what Ive done. I could care less what anyone elses opinion. Its not like the SRT is a ferrari.

The SRT hood will fit perfect on the 2011 non-SRT. The only difference is the scoops.
Well said Scott. If I owned a WK2 I'd love to have the SRT hood simply because I like the look vs stock, and it would make the vehicle unique amongst other stock WK2's.
The same can be said with SRT rims on a non SRT Jeep. Simply love the much more sporty/agressive look.

Re: 2012 srt Cherokee hood

Borrowing mods from an upgraded model's race, sport, or aftermarket version has been going on for decades, and will continue for years to come. Thumbsup OP.

I agree and I didn't mean to insinuate that it doesn't happen. I also need to clarify my comments since everyone seems to feel the need to chastise me for an opinion.

On initial read of the first post it sounded like he wanted to do a complete cosmetic redo to make a "normal" WK2 look like an SRT8. My reaction was knee jerk based on personal experience buying, building and reselling high performance cars over the last 30+ years. I can't even begin to count the number of times I've run into people who, unbeknownst to them, have paid top dollar for what amounted to a parts bin special when they thought they were purchasing the real thing. You see it all the time at the auctions but the major auction houses require "replicas" to be called out in bold print so the purchasers know exactly what they are bidding on.

Personally, I've put upmarket or race replica parts on cars, typically wheels if the factory pieces are well executed because I know they fit, they are recognizable for that model and can usually be found as takeoffs. What I've never done, and refuse to do, is create an replica.

Now I know Scott and others here have done some pretty darn good work creating their idea of the perfect Jeep and I also know that none of them would ever try to pawn their work off as the real thing. While it's not something I would do I never meant to demean their work.

I go the opposite route when I modify something, I'm into the sleeper look. If I were to do a sleeper WK2 I would start with a Laredo X or Limited V8 2WD and start by replacing the springs with lower and higher rate springs, custom valved Bilstein or Koni shocks, sway bars and links from the SRT (unless there was an aftermarket alternative), SRT wheels (because I like them and I'm sure there will be takeoffs available) and some good, sticky 295/34-20 rubber. I would then focus on the engine and trans and do a combination of cam, heads, forced induction and tuning to get as much out of the 5.7L as it has to give. I would leave the exterior bone ass stock! It would be the one of the fastest, best handling Laredo/Limited's on the planet but it would take a trained eye to know what hit them before I handed them their ass.

Some people are about the show and others are about the go, I fall into the latter category. No disrespect meant to those that fall into the former.

Oh, and I could have gone back and edited my first post but I won't because that would be cheating, I dug this hole so I'm stuck in it.

Re: 2012 srt Cherokee hood

I don't think they would make it as an accessary, but it should be just a matter of going to a dealer and ordering an SRT hood. After that just have it painted and installed. From what I read those heat extractors on the hood work. One question I have with those is what keeps the water from getting under the hood?

Agreed. Of course, I'm the polar opposite as I like sleepers that don't necessarily "show" but will go like stink. In the pre-Bangle-Butt days I liked Bimmers and had a heavily modified and de-badged M5 for a while. It only looked slow/stock. For a gag I put "528i" trim on the trunk for the WTF effect it made on unsuspecting performance car drivers.

That's cruel!, almost as bad as a 944 that I drove for a while with a 400 HP small block Chevy in it hehehe...... It retained all the stock bodywork down to the exhaust.

Not the one I had but a similar look, minus the Corvette hood graphic.

Personally, I agree with you.

I feel the same way about people wanting to put dual exhaust pipes on the V6 powered WK2s.

If they wanted dual exhausts, they should have purchased a V8!

I'm currently in California. The land of "Plastic People" and the biggest "Poser Nation" on the planet.

Oh really? So someone who is looking to get gas mileage over power is only allowed to have one exhaust?

Thats what you are saying here??

Buddy, your argument is invalid. Shouldnt matter if a 4 banger, v6, v8 or v10 is running single or dual exhaust, get that mentality out of your head.
