2013 Projector HID Weird Cutoff Pattern?

I've had my truck for over a year but yesterday I installed my new JW Speaker 6145 LED fogs (replacing a 25w HID 6000k kit) and put the OEM 4300k D1S bulbs back into the low beams (trying to match the LED fogs… but they don't match either)

However, as I was adjusting the aim of the fogs, this is the first time I really paid attention to the cutoff pattern coming from my low beam projectors. Does this look normal?

On my 2008 Overland the projector headlights gave a much sharper cutoff on both sides. The driver's side on this one seems wonky?

Agreed - your driver side projector looks messed up somehow. The pattern that your passenger headlight is throwing should basically be replicated by your driver side.

Re: 2013 Projector HID Weird Cutoff Pattern?

It seems like something is wrong with the bi-xenon shield in front of the bulb, because I think when I hit the high beams last night (raising the shields with the solenoids) both sides looked identical.

I hope I don't have to fork out a few hundred for a new headlight assembly. Maybe I will ask the dealer next week when I go in for my oil change.

Btw, off topic in my own thread, but…

If anybody is thinking about the JW fog lights, I highly recommend. The price is high but the light output is very impressive. First pic is just the OEM bixenon low beams, 2nd pic is the JW fogs, and 3rd pic is both together.

Re: 2013 Projector HID Weird Cutoff Pattern?

Perhaps the shield is stuck in the open position? If they do end up having to replace it I'd assume it'd fall under the 3 yr/36k mile bumper-to-bumper warranty (unless you have more than 36k miles already).

Try checking the output of both lights against a wall with the high beams on - if they match then I think you've found your culprit.

I agree with you on the JWS LED fogs as well - installed a set about 6 months ago and am very pleased with the output and color.

What do you have in your low beams? my 4300k stocks are too yellow, but the 6000k aftermarkets I had been running are too blue. thinking about ordering a set of Osram Xenarc CBI 5000k bulbs but they're pricey

I'm running at set of Morimoto 3Five 5000k bulbs that I picked up from The Retrofit Source (only $45). They are pretty close.

Your bulb isn't seated well. Take it out, and put it back in.

what he said. I had the same problem once. The bulb seat is surrounded by little "fingers" and it can be a bit tricky to seat the bulb correctly.
