Regarding the above about leased cars......the dealer is not going to give you anything extra for modifications done to the car. You either turn the car in and walk away, or purchase it for the residual and then try to sell it for more than you paid, that's the only way it goes down. Usually modifications do nothing to enhance the value of the car, as your everyday Joe looking for a pre owned GC could care less if the tail bezels are black or grey or whatever, we're just the freaks that notice that kind of stuff, the majority of the population would never notice something like that, nor care.
Actually it could benefit you if you were to try and get out of the lease early and have the dealer payoff the lease. They will assess the car and the difference between that and the payoff amount can be a lot less if you have added a backup camera or another type of mod.

I see your point, but I don't think a dealer is going to give much for something like that, but never know. I'm always of the mind that modifications are a sunk cost and are purely for the enjoyment of the current driver. I know I've added a few thousand dollars of mods to my vehicle, but I wouldn't expect it to get anymore money than a stock vehicle, unless you find a person that wants those mods and is willing to pay a premium for them. I know if I was purchasing a used vehicle I would want one completely stock that hasn't been messed with by anyone else, although maybe a backup cam would add a little, but I wouldn't expect to get anymore than 1/4 of the original cost of it at best.

Re: 2014 Altitude parts

Quick question if anyone knows off the top of their head, do the fog light bezels and rear step pad surround pop out? or are there any screws that you need to access from the inside of the bumper(s)?

Not sure if anyone's posted it yet, but I just saw via wk2jeeps that the 2015 Altitude package will come with optional backup camera... oy

Both can be removed, no screws. Bezels pop out and surrond slides off after you lift the plastic step.

Thanks a lot!

Edit:

It appears the fog light bezels have 2 screws holding in the chrome surround, I didn't feel like pulling the wheel well trim to mess with it so I will have to tackle it this weekend. The rear surround did indeed pop off with some coaxing.

Sorry my bad, I guess the 2014 bezel is not installed the same way as the 2013? Let us know what all you have to do to get it out once you dig in there, thanks.

According to the dealership today, the black grill rings are NOT available. And according to the best body shop in town, it's not worth painting the rings because it won't stick. I hate living in a tiny state.

Re: 2014 Altitude parts

I don't know why, but the chrome grille rings are only $105 while the "paintable" grill rings are nearly $300. I think I'll try painting my stock chrome ones anyway.

Re: 2014 Altitude parts

Make sure you use a adhesion promoter on the chrome or the paint will never stick.

And the "best body shop in town" should definitely know this...

They are most definitely paintable, but they have to be primed first. And there are other options too, so you're not completely at a loss. Although, Jeep needs to be shoed in the ass for not selling the black ones as is.
