2014 GC Laredo HID upgrade or bulb upgrade?

I have a 2014 GC laredo with the halogen headlights. I want to go with bluer lights or convert them to an HID bulb. Seeing as my headlights don't have a projector in them throwing an HID bulb in the headlight I just don't think would make sense as I doubt there is an adjustment to adjust the leveling of the headlights. I think that if my headlights are stock halogen bulbs that means I have a separate high beam and low beam, is that correct? If that is the case the HID bulb would serve as a high/low beam together which is why the projector is needed. Since my headlight housing doesn't have that, would it be best to order the headlights from a limited or higher model GC? I am also thinking without a projector style headlight, I could just purchase higher kelvin halogen bulbs opposed to purchasing a HID wiring kits which includes the ballasts.

What I hate about the HID kits is that even though they say they are plug and play, which means they plug into the factory sockets, doesn't mean they plug nicely into the back of the headlight. Most of the time you have to drill through the OEM dust cap in order to accomodate for wires coming from the ballast going to the HID bulb. This was the case with the last HID upgrades that I have done, since the HID bulb itself does not fit cleanly into the housing I would have to cut a hole in the OEM dust cap to fit in the rubber grommet that is provided with the new HID kit. Most of the time since the wiring is much larger than halogen wiring the rubber grommet on the new kit is much bigger than the OEM hole on the dust cap, so this requires cutting a larger hole and sealing it with silicone sealant and it's just not clean and becomes more of a headache than it should be. I literally had to completely remove my headlights to work off the car to make it look clean enough last time, it just required so much more work than is necessary.

Is there anyone switching the Halogen bulbs to a 5000k or 6000k bulb? If so, I would think seeing at night would decrease a lot because the bulbs are halogen and not HID.

If I purchase headlights for a Limited, Overland, Summitt, SRT, etc. would they be the same size as Laredo's to bolt into the headlight openings in the front bumper? Or is it different because the front of the vehicle has different fascias and bumpers?

Thanks for the help guys

The halogen headlights are projectors.... Lots of people have put in hid lights... Others of us are waiting for a harness to be finished to allow us to swap in the factory hid headlights.

Search the forums you will find lots of info....

I did search and I wasn't finding much info pertains to the specific questions I'm asking. Not my first time using a forum I searched quite a bit over the last couple weeks and hadn't been able to specifically answer the questions I had. Only thing I could find was that the wiring harness for leds was expensive that was one of my initial questions and I did find answers to that but not regarding HID's or bi xenon head lighting or projectors or if the limited or overland headlights would fit into the headlight openings of the 2014 laredo

Re: 2014 GC Laredo HID upgrade or bulb upgrade?

Didn't miss them, actually saw both of them already and read through both of them.

They don't really tell me anything, most of it is just people asking the same question over and over and it is regarding the LED headlights, the install thread is good for actually installing.

I understand the difference between the LEDs, and 2013 headlights and 2014 headlights. I took a look at my own Jeep real quick to get an idea, Obviously there is a projector, that was dumb of me not to actually look harder first. But with that being said, my question regarding drilling into the dust cap in order to compensate for the thicker HID wires coming from the ballast is still a good questions which I feel those threads don't answer.

I think that it is safe to say there really isn't an answer, and it seems to be too early in the life of the new body style to convert to HIDs without going through a rats nest of wiring harnesses and splicing wires to make everything look clean and neat. With that being said I think I might just reach out to a company who works in customizing headlights to see what they have to offer
