Re: 2014 GC lights in 2011?

Is the 2011-2013 projector headlight house a direct replacement for the 2011 oem halogen housing or is the wiring a bit different?

Re: 2014 GC lights in 2011?

Test fitted my passenger light. Next task is to do the wiring conversion.I've got it pretty down pat on what I need to do with the assistance of the wiring schematic provided. But I have some history in automotive 12 volt so making a working harness shouldn't be too bad. Wish me luck. Once conversion is completed I'll be selling the hid 2011 headlight assembly for both sides.

Any chance you could post pics of how well the headlamp fits? If seen a few pics of the gap at the bottom, but they were very poor quality. Thanks

This video posted earlier in the thread shows you the gap. IMO it looks terrible.

the gap sucks, although it still looks better with the newer headlights installed...I'll live with the gap til I find a newer style bumper

Re: 2014 GC lights in 2011?

No problem. The gap under the headlight is about an inch or so. I would like to custom fabricate a panel that bolts onto the bottom of the 2014 headlights taking place of the section of the headlight washer section.

Appreciate. I had seen the vid and pics with a black bumper. The white contrast shows the gap location much better.

It's actually more apparent in the video when the guy turns on the lights because the gap is lit up from the rear.

On the white Jeep you only see black on black.

Re: 2014 GC lights in 2011?

It's hard to beleive that for how long that people have been retrofitting the newer lights into the pre facelifted models that noone has addressed the gap by fabricating a filler panel of some sort.

I have seen people post pics of cardboard templates and talks about 3D print outs but nothing has materialized.

I'd like to see some fiberglass panel made up but whose gonna do it.

For those who have upgraded from Halogen headlamps I am sure that the improvement in light outways the gap.

The 2014 Headlamp are also painted on the inside around the lense border so light does not leak out the top and sides but the lower protrusion on the lense does leak light at that point

Fiberglass would be a very inexpensive way of making this panel. My concern would be if any flexing occurs at the point the bumper meets the panel under the light. Last thing you want to happen is to have something break off . Probably would go the same for a 3d printed item but I think the 3d printed item would be probably a bit more sturdier. I think I'm just gonna make it out of Lego. Nothing can destroy lego :P

Re: 2014 GC lights in 2011?

I got the molex connectors and I'm about to wire my new headlights. Just wondering if the wires for the harness are 18 gauge or 20. Or if you had to use different gauges for different ones. Also in the wiring diagram that shows the conversion you only need 8 out of the 16 pins? Just wanted to make sure I am not missing anything.
