Re: 2014 GC lights in 2011?

I tend to agree that the OEM lights may be better quality, but getting a good used set on ebay is a crap shoot as well. A lot of members here have complained about having one of the LEDs turn blue on them.

Re: 2014 GC lights in 2011?

Ebay is always kind of a crap shoot but what are my options for oem. A dealer? That's definitely out of my price range.
The ones I got were built in 2016 so hopefully i can get some life out of them. For now they are beautiful.

Re: 2014 GC lights in 2011?

Most everything came off ebay for the bumper parts. Grill was kind of hard to find unless you want to pay dealer prices. It was good to get the grill used though because i got it with all the parts that dont come on it if you get it from a dealer. Grill rings back part that snaps into the grill and the shrowd that actually connects to the front under the hood. It took a while to get them all.

I bought some halogen lights to keep cost down but decided I wasn't going to be happy with them, and my wife wanted the HID pretty bad so I justified those real quick.

I ended accidentally getting a headlight that was missing the washer covers so had to get those through mopar dealer parts for about $50 for the parts for one headlight if you need them this is what I'm talking about.

so, i know it's frowned upon, but i'm just curious if anybody's actually been able to successfully use housings with broken mounting tabs, and if so, which tabs are most essential and how you fixed them?

Re: 2014 GC lights in 2011?

I would say the 2 most important tabs would be the bottom 2. The top one you could fix with either a piece of flat stock plastic or even metal. Just make sure the hole is drilled in the right place. You could rivet the flat stock to the housing somehow. Just my 2 cents.

One of my lights has a broken tab but doesn't seem to affect anything

Re: 2014 GC lights in 2011?

Here are the part numbers for the washer cover. I ended up getting the movable middle cover and the fixed one because it was a little confusing and didn't want the stupid washer covers to hold up my install.

They sucked for shipping prices too. But it showed up pretty fast and I was worried they were back ordered.

(especially for any Canadians considering this option)

So I installed 2014 HID/LED's using Jeep_addicted's harness.

Had xenon flickering while in drive due to DRL's.

This morning I had a local Jeep dealership disable them. I was there for a while, they had to first change the country code to US to allow them to disable them.

Want to report that everything now works perfect!

Sometime this weekend I will mount my gopro in the garage and go through all the settings, in particular while in Drive.

I was wondering if anyone can explain how the DRLs work in a 2011? I am getting HID flickering only when the vehicle is running and have checked my grounds , went to 2 different dealerships that tell me the DRLs cannot be activated , today i wired up a relay that essentially uses straight battery power to the HID and they are still flickering...this is driving me nutz! Any thoughts ?
