Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Chrome Grille available?

Well that was about the most unnecessarily annoying thing on the planet to do. The stock grilles just didn't want to come out and the new chrome grilles don't want to go in. I had to give up for the night because it got too dark out and I look like I got in a fight with a barbed wire fence.

All buttoned up. It's a huge improvement.

They all look great! I'm torn, though. On one hand, I would like to replace my standard Limited grill with the Overland black mesh grill. That way it would match the black lower grill on my Limited. But I really like the look of the chrome grill too. Decisions...decisions...

Any words of advice for those wanting to do this?

If you get the middle piece out first, can you reach through the slots to get out the other two pieces? What tools are most helpful?

The best advice I can give is just to drop the front bumper and do it that way. I wasted so much time and hacked my arm up pretty good trying to do it the top down method. If you don't already have one, pick up the riveting tool ($15) at Harbor Freight so you can put everything back together again properly.

It's probably 90 times faster and easier to undo the handful of clips to pop the bumper off. That way you can get the proper leverage you need on the tabs. I thought that if I was able to get one out I could get access to the others, but that just wasn't the case.

Avoid the frustration and cut up arms and have the dealer do it.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Chrome Grille available?

Found the instructions to remove the 2014 front bumper earlier in this thread. I have a rivet tool, but I have only used it for metal rivets. Will it work for the plastic rivets? Anything special about the ones used on our jeeps, ie should I buy replacements from the dealer?

The Harbor Freight rivet tool that I used came with a couple dozen various plastic rivets, including a direct replacement for the OEM rivets.

Hand Riveter with 40 Industrial Strength Poly Rivets

Thanks. I have a harbor freight down the street. I think I'll pick this up and do the bumper removal instead of the from the top method.

Looking the bumper removal instructions, it looks like there are just two on each side that need to be removed?
