Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Chrome Grille available?

Picked up the Black Honeycomb grill insert (Part #68143074AD) for my 14' Altitude. This is the grill that should have been installed originally.

Followed the top down install method which took about 45 minutes to complete. I did remove the two plugs on the top pad first which gave me the ability to pull the outer grill away from the Jeep. Like others have said, your arm will endure damage due to the plastic, but its not totally bad. I started with removing the center inserts. I found that I could pull the outer grill away from the vehicle while pushing between the outer and insert with a screwdriver. It seems like the force was a lot but the inserts would just pop at their connection points with no damage. To install the new inserts I started with the outer ones first.

Again, it took 45 minutes with this approach and I used two different length flat head screwdrivers as suggested in this thread.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Chrome Grille available?

Top to bottom method is not working for me with needle nose pliers. Does anyone have any more advise than everyone has already posted. This seems like is should be so simple I'm baffled I can't pop the grill out!! Thank you all

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Chrome Grille available?

I think I ended up using one of those stubby flat head screwdrivers that are only about 3 inches long. I looked at my new inserts to see which way I needed to push the tab to get it to release. Once you get one or two to pop you will get the hang of it. I did put some pressure on it also to get it to come out. Cut the existing ones so you can get your hands in thru the grill openings also, makes it easier.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Chrome Grille available?

Don't be scared to pull and push a little harder than you would like. I got mine out without cutting the old but it definitely would have been easier to cut the old. Like everyone is saying really make sure you are looking at which side to pry on the tabs that makes a huge difference. If you can't get one skip it and come back later. On the bright side once they are out installing the new ones is a breeze. Don't give up, have a beer or two then give it a shot.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Chrome Grille available?

Will try again tonight. For something so easy I'm still baffled I couldn't get it. I did the same thing and laid out all three pieces on engine as they would be installed. I checked latch/hook to see how it should be locked in from the grill. I did everything to the point that I feel like I was going to break the black latch/hook male looking clips things. They look to be the same as the ones on the honey comb grill inserts just facing the opposite way. Hope that made sense. The ones that FD12ME pointed out in photo#3. I'll use a flat head screw driver this time. Can someone remember exactly what way they pushed the screwdriver and to what latch if possible. Thank you all.
Cheers

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Chrome Grille available?

Did done. Flat head screwdriver was key. I used a 3incher. Sorry for the horrible photo.

I did break almost all of these pieces but still got the new black grill in almost %100 solidly in all the clips and groves. I tried to take the best photo I could. If you have been in there you know.
