Ordered me one for my Overland. Can't wait to get it. Could be a while with the back order but it will be worth the wait.

I could see the dealers ordering these chrome grills and selling them as a dealer installed accessory. They could make some good money on these. They get them for only $30, install them, and sell them as a dealer add-on for $200? I'd pay $200 for it. Most people have no idea it's only a $30 part. Wouldn't be surprised if that is part of why they are on backorder. Maybe I'm giving the dealers to much credit though. Lol

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Chrome Grille available?

Wow...it seems complicated. Would someone be willing to video the installation for the rest of us?
Or should I have my dealer install it?

I'd be willing to Paypal someone some money if someone would make a video of this install

I assume Summit install is pretty much the same as the other 2014 models?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Chrome Grille available?

Okay, here are some simple directions that I made up today when my inserts arrived. I opted for the black honeycomb to match the lower black honeycomb grill (why they didn't come from the factory matching is beyond me, but hey-it was fun to install it myself). NOTICE: I do not have the technical know-how to remove the bumper, so this is the "easier, but make you pull your hair out version" which takes about 45min.

1) Pop the hood, open those two plastic rivets right in the front and pull the plastic up (there are two male/female slots that will pop)

2) There are 3 inserts. Two are double slots, they are for the right and left. One is a triple slot, that is the middle. I started with the top right part of the LEFT insert (top right if you're looking at the front of the car...not the top right of the insert). Note: wear long sleeves or cut a hole in some old socks and put them over your arms, that plastic is sharp and will cut the hell out of your arms.

3) Take a pair of needle nose pliers and push them into the retaining clips to disengage the hook, then push the insert back. Take a look at the new ones to see which side you need to disengage, some have the hooks on the left, others on the right. This will take some wiggling as those hooks do snap in with some pressure. Oddly, the far corners that you think would be impossible are the easiest to get out so long as you start from the middle and work towards the edge on the two corner pieces.

4) Pop them all out, try to be careful of pulling the whole grill too far back so you don't bend the paint and crack it.

4) The install is the easy part (you have about 5 minutes left)...start with the two corner pieces, push them in with some force until you can feel them snap in.

5) Push the plastic cover back down, re-engage the rivets and you're done.

I'm sure these directions might seem convoluted so ask questions and I'll try to make them easier to break down

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Chrome Grille available?

No problem. If you have any other questions just let me know-really, the majority of this install is trying to get those hooks to disengage. I had one or two that I snapped the plastic off with the hooks still inand then pulled them out with the pliers after the inserts were out...

FD12ME,
So you don't have to take off the front bumper to install the grill. Right?

Nope. Bumper stays on. Just those two plastic rivets in top of the grill come off. I'm sure it makes it a little harder to get to the inserts but I can't imagine it takes more time then uninstalling and installing the bumper.

FD12ME, thanks for your posts. I looked at trying to do it from the topside but seemed like it would be very difficult to work from the top. I had the top loose but seemed small spaces to work through. Now that you have demonstrated it can be done I will give a go when my grille arrives in a few days. Can you elaborate on which way to push the grab tabs. I'm assuming they need to push to the side that has more clearance to push towards.
