Are you thinking of upgrading your 2014 Grand Cherokee's headlights to HID with an HID kit but are unsure of what to expect?

We recently received some great feedback from forum member tvguy710 who recently installed the XenonDepot 5000k HID Kit in his 2014 Grand Cherokee and was kind enough to post up some pictures and provide feedback. The 2014 Cherokee uses H11 bulbs for the low beams meaning that you would need to order an H11 HID kit if you are considering this upgrade. While Jeep has changed the headlights on the 2014 the overall installation and parts required are the same for 2011+ model year Jeep Cherokee. Here is what you would need to get:

1) Xtreme HID Kit and select the H11 fitment. If you are unsure about which color temperature to select, keep in mind that 4300k will provide you with the closest output to stock HID lighting and the higher you go in terms of color temperature the less actual useable light output you will get. Please view this HID Kit Buying Guide for more info.

2) You will have to use a relay harness and capacitors or HID Kit error code eliminators when upgrading your headlights to HID. The Xtreme kit will come with a relay harness however you will also need to order the error code eliminators to prevent any sort of flickering or error codes being thrown when the kit is installed.

3) The XenonDepot H11 Xtreme HID kit will be plug+play. The kit will come with proper H11 connectors that will plug into your vehicle's OEM H11 headlight harness and will not require you to cut, tap, or splice any wires.

This customer chose to remove his headlights in order to install the kit which unfortunately required bumper removal. In some cases, customers have reported that they were able to access the headlights by removing the fender liner and accessing the headlights from the back (2011, 2012, and 2013 models).

Check out the pictures below to see some pictures of the 5000k HID kit installed in factory 2014 Jeep Cherokee halogen projector headlights.

Looks awesome!
Quick quesiton...

I had some a 6000K HID Kit installed on my 2014 Laredo (replaced halogen low beams)
Sometimes the HID will work, and sometimes they will not turn on.
They also will not turn on with the automatic on/off setting for the headlights.

My question is, will the error code eliminator fix this problem?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks Steve. I just contacted the shop I had the lights installed at and I will be having them remove the kit. After that I plan on ordering from XenonDepot. Question, do I still have to order the Canbus fix with the Xtreme HID Kit ($169 option) And also is the 6500K close to 6000K? I like a pure white with a light hint of blue.

Thanks again for your help.

Just installed the xtreme HID 5000k kit from xenon depot. I didn't want any yellow in the light. I'm VERY happy with the lights, but they do have more of a blue cast than I was expecting. For a "pure" white, I'd go with 4300k's. The difference in light output really is amazing.

Thanks for the feedback and glad to hear your happy with the results. That's correct the 5000k bulbs would have a little blue in them whereas the 4300K is a crisp white color with no blue.

Hi,

There is no legitimate reason for an HID kit to void your warranty. The bulbs do not burn any hotter then your stock bulbs. We also provide you with a relay harness which allows you to power the ballast directly from the battery as opposed to the OEM wiring.

Bought this Xeon Depot KIT based on this forum and it was stated that it was plug and play, I've tried 3 different times to install it with issues everytime. I even went to 2 guys who install HIDs all the time and they could not get this thing to work properly. The last install the lights wouldn't even turn on, so I figured that there is something wrong with the KIT. I send it back to Xeon Depot and they stated the KIT is testing out ok. Now I have to pay $30 to ship the kit back that won't even work.

Extremely dissatisfied.

SheltonJeep14: The canbus fixes will be in the box. They look like this:

CANBUS Fix

Thegame2024: I personally tested the kit. Every component was tested independently and proved to be working. You also failed to mention that you sent the kit back with a broken bulb as it appears that whomever was installing the kit installed the grommet on the bulb incorrectly... I will give you a call shortly to discuss.

That still wouldn't explain why the Kit wouldn't work (it was stated that both lights turned on during the test). I am looking forward to your call. Thanks.
